" Wales beat England in the rugby "

Sat Feb 27, 2021 6:50 pm

Wales have beaten England 40-24 in the Six Nations Rugby.

I know some on here don't like Rugby, but always good to beat England in any sport :thumbright:

The referee helped Wales out with their first half try.

Wales have now won their first three games in the tournament - against Ireland, Scotland and England.

Fantastic mate.

Tripple Crown in the bag and the Grand Slam is a real possibility now

Given where we were in the Autumn it's one hell of a turnaround.

We have had some luck along the way but as AWJ said we have been on the other end of that enough times.

I don't know if I'm getting soft but how nice would it be to see Wales win the Grand Slam, Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and Wrexham to all get promotion which is a real possibility. We have won the World Cup of Darts, Price on World Champion, Clayton won the masters, Potters Corner to win the National and we can come out of this Pandemic on a high after a shit year in general life.

March 20th could potentially be a good day.

Swansea v Cardiff - 5.30pm

France v Wales (potentially match to win the Grand Slam) - 8pm

Long odds on grand slam still.

France are very strong, more so in France.

Although Covid has made things a bit interesting where they are concerned.

The french minister for sport (a woman I think) has threatened to pull them out of the tournament completely, as they "obviously haven't stuck to the protocols agreed at the start" the word obviously being paramount, after suggestions galthie had partied with others! And if no "believable" reasons are forthcoming it is a possible to pull them out completely :?
And the 1st try for Wales was "legal" England brought water boys on the field while technically, because bigger had elected not to kick for goal, the ball is still "alive" England had 20 seconds to line up, but half the team were having a tea party! ! They deliberately tried to squeeze more time By bringing on water boys, and failed! May was protecting his wing, whereas the other wing was Kippings! Quick thinking ion Biggar behalf. :old: :bluebird:

Eh? What has morals got to do with it? I never mentioned them! Why would they have let england walk in?? The try,in fact both were perfectly legal! Not up to wales to wait around whilst england sip tea!! Never turn your back to opposing team, when facing a penalty, unless they go for the three points.

There was nothing unsporting about it. Farrell was told to have a word with his team about their discipline. Not have 5mins to catch their breath and have a drink and essentially prepare themselves for the line-out they were expecting to defend. We weren't kicking for the posts so it's englands fault for not being ready for the whistle.

I dont particularly like Gary Lineker but agreed with what he said on MoTD last night when reviewing the Brighton game. Why should the attacking team lose a lot of their advantage when they win a free kick? The defending team are usually allowed to set a up defensive wall, mark attacking players and get the keeper into position.

Switch off and you get punished. I'm sure the English wouldn't be showing any empathy or sympathy if they did it to us.

you know full well what my point was.... im not remotely interested in rugby but if your going to be doing this morality thing it really has to be across the board not just if it favours you....... as for the free kick ..im not complaining , you take whatever advantage you can...and therefore have to accept others will do likewise... ..will say though that there is no consistency and some refs wouldnt allow you to do it...

:old: :bluebird:

you would think that being morally wrong Wales would then have allowed England to score a walk in try....
or does this morality thing only apply to football

Eh? What has morals got to do with it? I never mentioned them! Why would they have let england walk in?? The try,in fact both were perfectly legal! Not up to wales to wait around whilst england sip tea!! Never turn your back to opposing team, when facing a penalty, unless they go for the three points.

im glad Wales won..if it was it my choice like the coaches / team id take it.... was it legal yes ... sportsman like no....

I'm sure the English wouldn't be showing any empathy or sympathy if they did it to us.

as i said legal yes..sporting no... if i were manager id have taken the advantage myself... but i wouldnt pretend it was sporting in anyway.... no idea what linekers views on a football rule have to do with it..

Long odds on grand slam still.

Wasn’t gonna be a line out wales were gonna go for goal. The kick was 25 yards out. Easy 3 points.

Did Biggar signal hs was kicking for 3 points?

No he declined the chance of the 3 pts, it was simply speed of thought imho, the ref said time on, so you play to the whistle! They have made so mypuch of a fuss over this it's made the poor ref come out and say now, he got it wrong! Too late anyway, the record books will show a wales win. :old: :bluebird:

The defending team conceding a freekick often takes away a lot of the advantage the attacking team had. That applies to football and rugby. At what point does gaining an advantage become immoral or unsporting then? Surely if you can gain an advantage within the rules of the game there's nothing unsporting about it. Otherwise any advantage could be seen as unsporting?

It looked like england assumed we'd kick for 3 points or the corner and were using the time to catch their breath and have a drink. I see that try as Biggar being tactically switched on and england switching off. I'm not fussed on rugby either so if Farrell did that to us, that opinion wouldn't change.
