Lee Mason complete incompetence

Sat Feb 27, 2021 3:36 pm

The guy is an absolute incompetent fool.

Wba v Brighton. Disallows goal, then, suddenly allows it, then disallows it... then looks at monitor to make sure, then asks for the free kick ( from which Brighton scored) to be re taken!!

Absolute appalling officiating. Certainly NOT premier league. Every year he has at least two or three mares!!!

Absalute farce everyone heared the whistle! Apparently he blew to take it but saw goalie not ready and blew after shot taken to stop game ....but his mistake was giving goal then going to var to check what happened? : getting sacked in the morning! :laughing6:

Not seen it yet because I was watching our match.

But heard about it and will try and watch it on MOTD or Sky.

Sounded like a shambles.

But we all know Lee Mason is out of his depth in that league.

Ned if remember last week goal disallowed last week as ref was not ready ? this time ref was ready blew whistle but noticed goalie appears not to be so he blows again to stop game but unfortunately kick was taken.... he made the mistake of awarding goal then after advice from var they cancel goal even though it had nothing to do with var? Another ref dropped next week..

Just watched the incident from today.

Absolute disaster, and some of the worst refereeing I've ever seen.

I normally try and stick up for referees, but there's no defending Lee Mason here.

Yeah, I remember last week. Andre Marriner said he hadn't blown his whistle and to be fair, you could hear that the whistle to take the free kick was blown after they took the free kick.

That wasn't what happened today. Awful from Mason.

Stupid part is if keeps to no goal because he did not see goalie wasnt ready he would get away with it.... but to allow goal after pressure from Brighton then have var tell him to see monitor then have var make decision before he got there turned whole situation into a farce ! Var was abused in this situation as not its remit to decide anything.
Goal was disallowed because Mason blew whistle for 2nd time before ball went into net just pure bad refereeing.

An awful referee - can anyone else remember the time we played West Ham and the ball hit him from our clearance on the edge of our box leaving their player free to score and saw him laughing afterwards as our players complained. He did do us a favour once too though when he gave Huddersfield a penalty and then retracted it following his linesman's advice despite it being an obvious foul on Joe Bennett... Way out of his depth at professional level

That Huddersfield incident came to my mind. Penalty one minute, changes mind as soon as there is pressure.

Dreadful ref.

Mike Dean in charge of the next one tonight.

Dermot Gallagher said Mason just lost focus........ hope this sorts out the mess? Mason blows to take kick realises WBA not ready blows again to stop game which he did.... question was did he blow before ball went into net? That was var to look at and he did blow so he was correct in disallowing goal! Like Gallagher said he lost focus and shouldnt have given goal before checking as he obviously realised the rules on situation he created........... he needs a holiday me thinks. :D

He definitely needs a break, but I don't think he's ever been good enough to referee at this level and should be demoted next season.

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen Mason have a decent performance. How he’s a ref at the highest level I don’t know? That penalty he didn’t give to Huddersfield when they play us was ridiculous. Was probably the final nail in Huddersfield’s coffin, in trying to stay up.

It was worse than MOTD portrayed it. Twice he allowed the goal before finally saying start again.

Stelling et al were just gobsmacked!

They were comedy gold at sky ! Love watching city on tv and having them On laptop great way to spend a Saturday afternoon..... as for Mason well correct in disallowing goal but the decision making was shambolic but players must take some blame for hounding him instead of giving him time to assess decision..

Lee Mason was supposed to be fourth official for Sheffield United v Liverpool tonight but has now withdrawn from that.

The Huddersfield player fouled Bennett first and the lino saw it and flagged it mate, so Mason actually got that decision right but only with the help of his assistant.

It was poor but everyone makes mistakes, look at Allison last week. End of the day it’s only a bunch of kids knocking a ball about.. could be forgiven for thinking drama queen Stelling had been shot

Nah, stonewall pen for Huddersfield! I’ve seen it loads of times, we got out of jail with that one.

It's called television and it makes for good viewing.... his rant when his club was relegated couple seasons ago was classic tv...

All true nevertheless. An obvious point made, which only highlights the sorry disparity in the game.
