MICK MCARTHY:

"Lee Tomlin not fit enough yet, no where near to put the effort I require, he is not there yet, I expect 90 minutes of 110%, Lee is a long way off that yet."

I just can't see Mick giving Tomlin the same latitude as Harris. At best he is last 15 mins if we are losing.

The front three pressing is pretty impressive and with the speed of Murphy and Wilson, it must take its toll playing two games a week every week, so i can see a 60 min double sub every game so there will be opportunities. But, if we are winning you'd have to say Ojo and Bacuna or Williams will be ahead of Lee in the pecking order.

Thankyou Mr Tomlin for that 1 season but your time is up. This manager will not accept less than 100% dedication and professionalism.

Is it true he's ballooned again??

As long as we keep going the way we are - the match day squad to date have done the job to stay in place .

LT / JW - And any other player coming back ( JR ) - Will only add to what MM choices are to be :bluebird:

Lee Tomlin is a little barrel-chested, so will always look bulky. however, he has been out for some time and is still on the road to recovery, so a little leeway should be afforded...

Was the manager having a go or simply stating a fact that Tomlin is still some way from returning to 'Messiah' status?

I suspect the later; why would he want to do different when rebuilding the guys fitness and confidence?

You on the sherry mate ;) what's barrel-tested? Must have brewery connection surely :laughing5:

Would take what Mick says with a pinch of salt tbf, he said the opposite to Tomlin before the last u 23 game, where he said tomlin isn't going to be playing (not ready) where tomlin was saying "another weeks training, looking forward to playing the u 23 game" so in my eyes, some kidology going on there. :old: :bluebird:

Note: Edited (LOL :laughing6: )

I think we have to read into what MM keeps saying that he picks his team on the effort he sees in training!

Tomlin in his current position has little or no chance of sitting on the bench for some considerable time. He won’t be back until next season, if at all.

Karl, I think you may be right and that's part of my point, i.e. no one inside the club has suggested he is coming back to first team action any time soon; that seems to have been some on here making assumptions that a few minutes on the pitch meant he was ready, which (regardless of Mick McCarthy's comments) he most certainly is not

Some on this Forum are very hard (or maybe ignorant) on injured players and their recuperation

Chris,
Totally agree with you on his day he’s a game changer but those days are in his past. I’m not being hard when I say he wont see the bench this season either. How can he make way for another player who’s proved himself in training?

He’s 32ish and we all know it’s hard to get fit and lose weight etc at that age. Sorry but I just don’t see MM picking him and long term can see him leaving the club.

Interesting and a very big if, promotion will secure MM and TC and the club will back him in the transfer market. That includes a double deal for Wilson and Ojo so interesting and exciting times.
