" Marlon Pack "

Someone needs to drug test him.

What a turnaround. He's been outstanding since he came into the team under Mick McCarthy.

Looks like a completely different player.

To be fair, the turnaround in not just pack but everyone. Flint was a disaster signing yet he’s solid, assured and I can’t remember the last time we looked so comfortable at the back. Midfield looking decent and going forward, balls into the box etc.

I didn’t want MM, but happy to take it back and say I was wrong. He’s been a revelation.

Spoke too soon!

It's not the first time he's lost possession this match with a lazy pass in a dangerous area, and it's not the first time this season we've conceded because he's made a needless mistake.

As well as he's been playing recently, this is a glaring weakness in his game.

I'll take the blame for that first Bournemouth goal.

2nd time this as happened with him and 2nd time hes failed to take one for team if he did so no goal is scored ...

The first 10 mins of the first half he was chasing shadows but got into the game and played well.

His lack of pace will always be against him but other than the mistake and he played really well. And i am not a massive fan

Pack has definitely improved, compared to his sideway passing, and playing so far back as a sweeper before. I’m really not a fan of his though, or Baccuna. They scored because of pack tonight, and we seemed under pressure once Baccuna came on. Happy we won though, so I shouldn’t really be complaining.

Totally agree with you just a pity his pass led to a needless goal but everyone of our players gives the ball away particularly Vaulks who I also like it's just some like to stick the needle in with some players. Pack has been excellent reflected by 6 wins on the trot with Pack and Vaulks doing a sterling job in midfield

One mistake sadly, it is all it takes against a quality team. Take that away though, and Pack has been excellent under MM. Watching on the red button, the Commentator said a line that I never thought id ever hear lol "Marlon Pack and Will Vaulks totally dominating midfield so far today " Seriously though, every single player is showing exactly what they are capable of. Full credit to them :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

We was under pressure before bacuna came on what bacuna did was run at heart of their defence with breakouts in doing so used up precious time as they needed to restart from deep in on half moore and OJ did same taking ball deep into corner of pitch! Just good game management.

it was defo a poor pass by Pack..but A } he was 75 yards from our goal... and B} what were we doing 2-0 up at a place like Bournemouth with 6 other blue shirts either level with him or ahead of him ? bit gung ho.. as for Baccuna once they got that goal the remaining time was always going to be backs to the wall with players having learned from the goal and not over committing leaving LB along with Ojo and Moore making solo runs / winning the odd tackle and generally trying to run as much time off the clock as possible..thought he worked his nuts off...

Yourself and pembroke make good points, I’m probably just being over critical, as I’m not big fan of Pack and Baccuna. I can’t really complain though, as the team spirit is fantastic, and we are now in the playoff zone.

Pack has been superb and one mistake should not change this....for me the mistake was more so not pulling down the player and taking a yellow than the bad pass

My old boss is a Bristol City fan and when he was struggling commented that when with them he had 2 younger players around him who did a lot of the running. It is a question of that but also having someone to pass to. Prior to Big Mick's arrival our work rate with the ball as well as without the ball was poor. There were so few options for forward passes as well and our strikers were static. It also didn't help that we were set up not to lose rather than to win. When a team is playing poorly or is low on confidence everyone is static and forward players receive the ball with their back to goal. How often do we now see players moving on to the ball. Pressing high also means that when we do dispossess teams we are in dangerous areas of the pitch. My only criticism of Pack last night was that he could learn something from the late great Peter Whittingham who new how to take one for the team when taking out out someone on a surging run through midfield

100% me too. Disappointed to begin with the appointment but how can anyone not be estactic at the 8 games so far

This is a great summary!

We were near the edge of their box and although the pass was shambolic, I was wondering where our team were. Plenty of opportunity to amend for the error with correct positional play. Other players, such as Vaulks, often concede possession, but this is where teamwork is important. Bacuna was always going to have limited opportunity in an attacking sense due to the circumstances of the match. Good game management by MM, introducing a fresh player able and willing to cover ground and defend.

As Pembroke mentioned, when they look back on that pass. If Pack takes one, pulls the guy
back on halfway, they don't score.
Sometimes it just has to be done! :bluescarf:

What has aided Packs improvement is the movement is much better across the whole team and in particularly in front of him. He is a bit slow and had a tendency of a loose pass, as yesterday proved, but there is no doubting his quality on the ball and his ability to pick out a pass. With Murphy and Wilson making more runs in a more fluid system, Moores movement and hold up play, the wing backs with more freedom on the flanks, Vaulks who doesn't stop running and one of the three centre backs allowed more freedom to move forward... he has many more options now than before and is hugely benefitting.

The whole squad seems like different players to the time just before Mick arrived. They are working harder and look like a team again!

Yeah agree + his lack of pace is a worry. Don’t know why he didn’t take a yellow leading up to their goal.

Ill 2nd that, yes poor pass, but we should have had it covered? being that far up the pitch, and by so many was the reason they scored!
He has impressed me of late, but then so has the whole team & management. CCFC.
