I know for a fact that when Harris got rid of Patterson the players downed tools. Even looking back over players social media the comments they were making were fully in support of Patterson who was devastated to leave and told he wasn’t wanted. Players know better than anybody what other players bring to the club and they all knew that Patterson put a great shift in and contribute is this fair share of goals.

I always said he was a half decent player that scored important goals for us.
He never gave up or shirked any responsibility.
Big loss in my opinion.

Getting rid of Pato was a big mistake and it doesn't surprise me if it was instrumental in NH losing the dressing room. And yes, MM would have loved him in the squad, I think we really miss him.

He was a steal at 500k, MM would have found a place for him.

Quite obvious that NH had lost the dressing room.

Dreadful transfer decision by the club and manager

I said at the time the Patterson deal was shocking. A few on here said he was just a lump who ran around a lot but he was better than that. I think he scored 9 or 10 goals in the premier league and was always a goal threat. He was good In the air and pressed high. Mick would have loved him. I fear what will cost us this year is no back up for keiffer. I think Neil Harris was feeling himself a bit after the playoff run and thought Patterson wasn’t right for the new football style he was always talking about. Awful deal

Just one point on this.

Paterson was certainly popular and I can understand how his sale would have upset the squad. But are we sure that Paterson didn't actually want to go ?

There is a difference between wanting to stay and wanting to stay as long as he was getting a game.

To be honest I'm struggling to see where Paterson would play (even under MM) in the first eleven the way we play now.

I certainly agree that he would have been good back-up to Moore but was he happy with that prospect ? If he wasn't then he had to go as no managers want players hanging around and moping about.

Who was the driving force to get rid of him.

For me if we wanted to bring in any other players we had to get rid of what we had. Patterson was the only one of value so I can imagine it was a decision made between the manager NH and the board. Going on this model the question to be asked is would we have been able to bring in Moore or Wilson if we kept Patterson?

Whatever the answer is for me if the players are throwing their teddies out of their pram over this then they need to grow up.

Let’s face facts with Keiffer automatic 1st choice Pato was never going to be more than a bit part player

However, there are certain players who are very popular and big influences in the changing room. You keep them because of the positive affect they have within the squad even if they don’t play every week. It would appear Patterson was one of those players and in hindsight it was wrong to sell him

It was probably the reason big Sol got an extra years contract. Even before his illness he was never going to play every game but he was a huge positive influence within the squad and still is by the sound of things

No, but one of the best off the bench when we need to either shut up shock or attack urgently. His energy and willingness to run through walls was impressive; and his 'value' to the team was best indicated by his team mates (and his man celebrations)

Did his best for the Bluebirds and well up my list of 'applauded returnees' (prior to Kick Off, of course) :ayatollah:

Nobody can dispute he was popular with the rest of the team but at the end of the day he was a business asset that the club felt they needed to cash in on.

If you worked for a company who were struggling financially, they wouldn't keep you on because you were a good laugh in the office.

I know that's not a perfect analogy because he had contributed much to our recent success but he was not a specialist in any position and it was difficult to justify his retention at a time when the club was being rebuilt.

I agree with that.

We have all lost colleagues whether it be in a work environment or in a Team Sport (at a lower level obviously)

It can be a hammer blow at times but a good Manager would be able to explain the decision and have the trust of his staff.

That's where Harris was lacking I think, I don't think he could hold the dressing room. He appeared very rigid to me. I think he is a good man and probably has a place in the game but I don't think he's a 'Manager' of people and therein lies his problem.

Harris is finished as a a manager at any decent level, for the simple reason he cant manage players.

Like a second hand wannabe cockney car salesman. It never felt right with Patterson going. All that gob sh1te coming out of Harris about MY team this and MY team that. When in reality he seems to be suffering from small man syndrome, trying to prove himself.

It was daylight robbery letting him go for 500k

This is true,I read something regsrding Harris some weeks before his sacking,in the article it said he isnt a natural leader,or talker!! Then management isnt the side of football he should be concentrating on,as surely them two are a pre requisite of the job? As you say, nice bloke but not manager material.

this excuse would hold a lot more water had Patto been sold in August... but he wasnt sold until both those had arrived and the whole market re selling players very very quiet there was no no guarantee that we would sell anyone...

Patterson could and most likely was on Wednesdays cards before Moore and Wilson came in. Or perhaps until Moore or Wilson was secured Patterson was being held back.

Wednesday could have put a bid in for Patterson before say Wilson came to us. We would only entertain it once Wilsons services were secured. We just don't know.
