Richie Morgan had an excellent start. Winning 4 on the bounce, Orient, Blackburn, Leicester and Newcastle. Then lost three on the bounce, but only lost once I believe until the end of the season.
Am sure someone will put me right, but if memory recalls it was there or there abouts, and we fi ished around 9th?

Yes I think we did mate.
Gary Stevens and Ronnie Moore up front, Phil Dwyer in defence. I wonder if commentators used to say we were a threat at set pieces back in the 70s too!!

Richie Morgan took over in Nov 1978 after Jimmy Andrews was sacked after a 4-1 home defeat to Charlton on Nov 4th 1978. I attach the City results for that season and you will see that the winning run mentioned did not start until Feb 1979. From then until the end of that season City only lost three games.

That Buchanan hat trick against Sheffield Utd was great.. couple of rockets from outside the box. Bit depressing reading the Pink after that Luton game tho.. the Stoke home highlights were on recently.. Big Match revisited

Seeing the list of those results I see the name of Bishop on the scoresheet. I am sure that was Ray Bishop from Hengoed, he started with Bargoed YMCA juniors ( U/12s & 14s), I was in the B team, Bish was a bit of the star player with his old man "Ray Senior" managing the A team. Me, well all i could do was turn to refereeing (45 years of having to carry my birth certificate and white stick on saturdays !!) , Now thats going back a few years!

In the away games Luton put 7 past us, Cambridge 5 and Brighton 5 but we won all the home fixtures against them !

Replying to Pantmawr Bluebird.
Yes it is and is called “ Cardiff City Chronology 1920-1986 and compiled and written by John Crooks.
It has every result for each season as the one above, with goal scorers and appearances. It also has every cup result including the Welsh Cup and European Cup. It has every score against every team they played against in those years. Also, it has reports on certain games in that time like the one attached, when Warboys scored his four goals against Carlisle.

The photo cannot be sent as it is too big to go through - I have therefore reduced the page to see if that is better. Sorry about this.

Weird how some things stick in your mind. I remember a few city fans getting in there and a guy in a red top piling in with haymakers.
