Bristol City were beaten 2-0 by Reading on Tuesday night in the Championship - and sacked manager Dean Holden after a sixth straight defeat

Bristol City have sacked manager Dean Holden after their 2-0 defeat by Reading - their sixth loss in a row in all competitions.

The result left the Robins 13th in the Championship - seven points off the top six - and comes just three days after they were hammered 6-0 by Watford.

City players that were warming down after the defeat on the Ashton Gate pitch were called in as Holden was relieved of his duties.

Holden did not conduct media interviews following the result as the Championship club prepared to make an announcement.

Keith Downing has also left the club with Holden and Paul Simpson is set to take caretaker charge.

They should pull down their slave statues and put ones up of other famous Bristolians like erm Worzel Gummidge, Noel Edmonds and Tony 'Baldrick' Robinson.

Paul Cook is now the favourite at 5/4 for the job with Eddie Howe second favourite at 3-1 ( no more chance he would go to Bristol than us) and Michael Appleton third favourite at 4-1.

Funnily enough a name mentioned by a few on their forum is Mick McCarthy the thinking being that they would pay off the rest of his six month contract with us and offer him a good long term deal. Doesn't figure in the bookies odds so no chance of that happening. Neil Harris is 25-1 for the job.

And that's why I hate them so much their sense of entitlement.I'm under no illusions our history isn't great but theirs is worse.how sad.
