PERRY NG:

Sun Feb 14, 2021 9:20 am

Cardiff City defender Perry Ng spoke with the press following the 3-1 victory over Coventry City.

The right-back has been involved in all six games he's been eligible for since joining the Club from Crewe Alexandra in January 2021.

“WE FIGHT FOR EVERY BALL”

CARDIFF CITY FC:

PERRY NG:

"Yeah, I'm buzzing. I'm over the moon. The main reason I came here was to play football. I've been playing regularly and now we're getting results too, which is even better.

"To be captain at Crewe was a huge achievement for me. It gave me huge confidence coming here. I played a lot of games and I think that helped me to come here. The Championship is a really tough league.

"I've just got to keep working hard and hopefully the results will keep coming. Overall, I'm delighted with my start here."

Perry supplied the third goal for Josh Murphy, freeing the winger with a quickly taken free kick.

"The idea came to me on the spot, really. TC & the Gaffer have been on at me in training about impacting the game a bit more.

"He came up to me at the end and said: 'That was perfect. You've impacted the game hugely.'

"So I've just got to keep doing it."

Speaking about the new management team, Perry added: "Mick coming in has helped me a lot as well. He's given me the confidence to go out there and believe in myself and show what I can do.

"We fight for every ball. No risks are taken at the back. We get it forward, make it difficult and we pester teams.

"Training has been very tough. It has been instilled into us that we've got to fight and work hard and the results are paying off.

"We've just got to keep the momentum going and who knows what will happen."

Big problems ahead

When we are eventually back in the stadium there is a massive dilemma facing all of us.

How the hell are we going to get the name NG into any song ?

Always thought his name should be pronounced NunG , surely it cant just be NG

“Duh dud duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh... Perry NG” (instead of Cardiff City at the end) to the tune where we alternate between clapping slow and fast. Got to keep it simple as I’m normally under the influence of alcohol.

Not worried about how to chant his name, but think that he could become a really top-class player. He sounds very level headed and already looks like a great signing.

Be interesting to know who actually spotted him, whether it was Harris or some scout. I would imagine that when Tuttu was injured it was obvious we needed a right back and any scout could do a lot worse than take a look at who was in the league one and league two team of the year at right back and if they were a promising youngster who should get better take a chance on him.

Whoever it was, it looks like a brilliant signing for absolute peanuts.

But if you listen to Harris interview after NG and watters were signed, it sounds like they were made by the club. He comments were (something along the lines of) 'its the direction the club want to go in, and I support it'. I could be wrong but it didn't sound like they were signings Harris put forward himself.

Mallo, we are told it wasn't a Harris capture, which beggars an interesting question then who? :ayatollah:

But I think we can safely take the owner out of the equation... ;) :laughing6:

Maybe we're taking a Brentford-esque Moneyball style approach?

It is a fairly simple approach.

Look at what teams are over-performing in lower tiers, then look at what players are over-performing in those teams and if there is a fit with a gap in your squad sign em up.

It's probably a coincidence but both Watters and NG would fit into that model so who knows maybe we finally got smart?

He signed himself after he recommended himself? :laughing5:
