Josh Murphy:

"I've got a smile on my face.

"I think you can see the team morale at the moment. Everyone is thriving, looking forward to games & putting a shift in."

"I thought the boys were excellent today," he said following the final whistle.

"We dug in and I think you can see with the way that we're playing at the moment, we're very resilient.

"Then, when the chances are coming we're putting them away, which we probably weren't doing previously. Everyone's buzzing in the dressing room."

Having teed up Kieffer Moore's opener, Josh latched onto Perry Ng's free-kick to make it three against the Sky Blues.

He felt the right-back's assist was proof of the intensity that the Bluebirds have shown under Mick McCarthy, as he continued: "Perry has been excellent ever since he came in. He picked me out and I was able to finish into the bottom corner.

"It's just about getting everyone on the same wavelength, being a bit more attacking and speeding up the play. Everyone is thriving off that at the moment."

The goal was the winger's first of the season, and he finished by explaining how a shift in momentum has helped to springboard the Bluebirds up the table.

"I've got a smile on my face," he added. "I think you can see the team morale at the moment. Everyone is thriving, looking forward to games and putting a shift in.

"Probably in the past, we weren't getting the rub of the green, and now things are falling our way, we're taking our chances and everyone's playing well. We need to keep that going.

"We've got a talented and successful squad who are used to having a winning feeling. That's coming back now and we just want more and more. We've got momentum behind us and just need to keep pushing for results."

Capable manager = Capable player...

Was never a Warnock type of player and Neil Hartis just destroyed any remaining confidence

If he carries on in the form, he will prove the doubters wrong and that will benefit player and club alike

Looks a different player under Mick..class today. Confidence is everything..the cross for Bennetts goal on Tues and the assist for Moore today after tracking back putting in a great defensive tackle and his finish for his goal was superb ..seemed lightweight in the past but is stepping up at last..keep it up Josh

The thing about Murphy is that he's never been great at beating a man from a standing start. Sadly, the way we have played the team has been really static and lacked movement.

So under Warnock and Harris he was receiving the ball on the wing when stopped and with almost zero movement. It was a very rigid system. This forced him to try and take players on from a stopped position which isn't his strength.

So while I understand the frustration with Murphy, he really hasn't been in a team that plays to his strengths.

However, when in full stride his pace easily takes him past players.

MM and TC have implemented a system where he has more freedom. His quick movement and runs behind, as demonstrated by his goal, is his strength. Plus when he does get the ball in space and moves with it he can beat players and pick out a lovely pass/cross, as demonstrated by his assist for our first goal and his assist against Rotherham.

The MM and TC system plays to his, and Ojos, strengths.

His last season at Norwich was similar in that he wasn't stuck out on the wing in a rigid system, but allowed more freedom to make runs and build up a head of steam.

Long may it continue for us!

Sensitive lad

He's obviously a very sensitive lad , and I mean that in a nice way. So he probably doesnt react well to mouthy gob sh1te cockney car washer giving it the big I AM

Murphy is the arm around the should type player it seems - I guess MM sees that, and the result is for all to see.

It’s only taken him two & a half years to put a shift in fffs.

I’ve been a big critic of Murphy so if he’s finally on the upturn then long may it continue.
But it’s only been a game or two.

Absolutely spot on :D :bluebird:

Warnock and Harris not capable of getting the best out of him as a flair player. MM will.

Hope he tears up the rest of the season.

C'mon City Onwards and upwards

Murphy on playing up top with Kieffer: "I like the central role, it means I can have freedom to roam around the pitch and get on the ball more. I'm in better goalscoring positions. It's a role I quite enjoy playing."

I'd given up on him, thankfully McCarthy hs got him plying again, it's like having a new player

On his day a good player doesn’t like tracking back or doing the dirty work but he can still do a job for us more so under mm

Re: Josh Murphy:

I've been critical of him not tracking back, but in fairness he did track their man, won the ball made ground up the wing and delivered a perfect ball forward for Moore to run on, leave their centre half on his arse, and finish with aplomb. That's what City fans like to see, a player putting plenty of effort, we will always accept mistakes if we see a player giving his all. Let's hope MM and TC can keep him playing like this, then he will be loved instead of being victimised.

he has had good games its just some do not want to give him credit for them....his first season wasnt only a step up to a higher league but he was in a poor team that did not create a great deal either as a team or for him... last year, especially the 2nd half of the season Harris was either not playing him or throwing him under the bus to deflect some of the blame by putting him on for 10 minutes...

I always knew there was a £12m player there, but I lost patience with him over 12 months ago and would’ve gladly drove him to a new club for a free transfer. Hopefully he puts a run of good form together, he’s winning me over with recent contributions, long May it continue.
