Liverpool are reportedly considering using Cardiff City duo Harry Wilson and Sheyi Ojo as makeweights in a deal to sign Leeds United star Raphinha.
The Bluebirds have benefitted greatly from having the Liverpool pair on loan this term, with both having made a big impact at the top end of the pitch.
While it is largely acknowledged that Wilson's future lies elsewhere, there is a quiet optimism among City fans that Ojo, who has been one of the standout players for the Welsh club this term, might be a more attainable permanent transfer this summer.
However, according to The Express, Liverpool have identified Leeds winger Raphinha as a top transfer target and are currently mulling over a number of options to ensure they land their man.
That, they report, means Liverpool could offer as many as five players to assuage the loss of the Brazilian wide man, who has made quite the impression at Elland Road since he arrived back in October, having notched four goals and four assists in 17 top-flight appearances this term.
It is claimed that Jurgen Klopp is considering offering any of Ojo, Wilson, former Bluebird Marko Grujic, Xherdan Shaqiri or Divock Origi to sweeten the deal.
It is thought Leeds would want a fee of around £25m for a player they purchased for a shade over £17m just four months ago.
Wilson was linked with a permanent move to Elland Road back in the summer, however The Athletic claimed Marcelo Bielsa was not in favour of the deal as he believed the Wales international didn't suit his style of play.
Liverpool wanted close to £20m for Wilson back then, but the closest they got to that was a £12m bid from Burnley, which was subsequently rejected, before the winger headed to the Welsh capital on loan.
Ojo, meanwhile, would command a far more modest transfer fee, meaning it would not make much of a dent in Leeds' asking price for Raphinha.
Whether Ojo, who has five goals and six assists for the Welsh club this term, is used in a combination of two or three players is perhaps a consideration.
Cardiff fans, though, will certainly hope that is not the case as it would scupper any chance of seeing him in a Bluebirds shirt in the long term.
