Cardiff recording back-to-back wins for the first time in three months took them into the top half of the table and within a win of Warnock, which is remarkable after performing so poorly for so much of the season.
With a new manager Big Mick, a new shape and renewed confidence, Cardiff can stop looking over their shoulder, for now at least, and instead focus on replicating last year’s assault on the play-off places.
Maybe they won’t be able to muster the same momentum this time and will come up short, but there’s hope again and if nothing else, that is something to build upon. With Lee Tomlin set to lace his boots again very soon, there’s no harm at all in getting a little excited again. It’s certainly been a while
