“ looking real value for money at last “

After years of wasting money on signings / wages etc

It’s looks like we’ve finally signed a player well worth his money :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird:

Incredible that Perry Ng was playing League Two football last year. NG has taken to the Championship with consummate ease. Looks so solid and has solved a very big problem for Cardiff.

Looks a shrewd signing, from the little evidence we have so far and long May NG continue to play well.

My man of the match last night :bluebird:

The whole deal from Crewe is worth up to £350,00, with all the add ons.

Signed till June 2024

If the boy Watters does as well be 2 great signings. Lots more in Div 1 and 2.

NG and Moore have been great signings. Phillips looked solid last night. 3 very good players for not a lot of money. Good business by the club. Hopefully watters can make the step up as well.

Some decent youngsters coming through. It's refreshing to see. Hopefully the club are turning a corner and we can push on.

I really hope so Karl, but Jury totally out with me on Watters making it in the Championship.

Lee,

Kiether Moore for £1.5mill was a steal could be worth £10mill very soon.

Phillips worth the fee which rises to £500,000 eventually depending on first team appearances.

So yes over all looking good :bluebird:

He will get his chance soon Annis be great if he pops a few in. We used to be great picking up Scottish talent I don’t think it’s dried up our scouting has?

We were very lucky to get Moore for the price we did. Wigan were in massive financial problems, so they had to sell. He was worth a lot more than £1.5m last summer, and I was very surprised there weren't other team trying to buy him.

He's scored 12 goals already this season and he could easily reach 20 goals by the end of the season.

I don't think he'll be playing for us in 18 months time, but the good thing is we'll get a massive profit off him.

Perry Ng has looked very good and also cost hardly anything. Could be a future captain.

I said when we signed Phillips that we needed a back-up goalkeeper and he fits the bill. Played well last night and will always be able to rely on when Smithies gets injured or ill.

Agree with you on Watters, but I guess only time will tell. He will get a chance at some point due to injuries, but when he does he needs to take his chance. Problem for him is he's probably battling to play in Sheyi Ojo's position and Ojo has been playing well recently.

Whilst it’s early days with Watters, I didn’t see any raw potential and the jury is out with me also. Hopefully, this initial judgement is wrong and he has a successful career with us, but at these lower prices (such as the Watters and NG transfer), we can financially afford for one in two to not work out. Risk versus reward.

In line with the OP, the NG deal looks an absolute belter.

In fairness the acquisitions of Moore and Ng alone would see us turn a healthy profit. I know it’s only a start, but if we could replicate this in the future it’d make us far more sustainable.

I watched most of the U23's game yesterday, and although they played against 10 men for nearly all the match there were quite a few who looked really comfortable on the ball, and played some attractive football under Steve Morrison. So most of them are well below 23 yrs of age, I think it finally looks like we might have some decent young players coming through in the next few seasons, if not before. If Mick stays on I think he will start using a few of them

Think amongst all the bad business we have done, 2 players have stood out as value for money...Perry and Moore.
But also, the fact is both have done exactly what they were signed to do...Moore to score goals and Perry to solidify the right side of defence.
It cant be a coincidence that both are amongst the hardest working players in the team either and both have worked their way up to Championship level from lower leagues.

Don’t think we should get used to it we’re they all Harris signings?
Or were they the Committee signs ? If so more to follow I hope. Great job so far by who ever was behind them.

Unlike previous managers, all the players that Harris has recommended to the Committee have been successful! Perhaps we should have kept him as the Director of Football in charge of Recruitment and the Academy and brought in a Head Coach for the first team?

Harris did not recommend NG and Watters to the commitee!

Based on performances a number of the recent signings are looking like good value to me, particularly now we have a manager who seems to be able to get the best out of them.

Moore, Ng, Ojo, Wilson are all doing well for us and, as far as we know, we haven't paid over the top for any of them :bluebird:

The new recruitment committee type of went unnoticed by the press or the club didn't really announce them, but they seem to know the time of day.

I believe it's time to do away with the whole manager thing. It's so 20th century. Get a first-team head coach to suit your style, call him a manager if you want, but they shouldn't buy players. They can be part of the early vetting and suggest a player but it shouldn't be their word and their word only.

Klopp doesn't have that power at Liverpool

Who recommended those two?

On a side note for all his faults he made some pretty good signings.
