Should we bid for Ojo?

WalesOnline seem to think so.

In my opinion I think we should as well. He can play on the wing, behind the front men in the number 10 role and striker.
Seems like he has more than enough ability and I would continue choosing him over Hoilett and Murphy - at the moment at least.

I think he’s done really well for us and has popped up with some really important well taken goals.

I think we should certainly be seeing if we can do a deal but my worry is that there will be no money available for any signings next season unless we sell first and we only have a limited number of players who would command a decent fee.

Of course if you take those decent players out of the equation it weakens the team.

We'd have to find a couple of million at the very least to sign Ojo and I'm not sure that sort of money will be available next season.

Handy player to have around and is having a decent season. Id imagine he will be out of our price range though next season.

Yep sums it up for me, Ojo is a cracking player

Definitely and I think we will.

He's had more goal involvements than Harry Wilson and has done well for us this season.

He seems to have been a lot of people's favourite scapegoat this season, which I think is a bit unfair.


He's enjoying his time with us he would be interested in signing permanently.


I think he's been better for us than Harry Wilson, personally. The stats back that up and his work defensively should also be taken into consideration.

In addition his work rate is high and he has made plenty of defensive interventions which is why he is well worth his regular place in the team.

On the question of NML or Ojo, if NML was fit then I would accept he can have a massive impact. But if you look at the stats for the last three league seasons he played 87 games, scored just 13 goals and 10 assists which is way down on what Ojo is doing right now.

Add to that the fact that NML missed whole rafts of games in those seasons due to injury I would say that Ojo represents better value for money and, at the moment, is having more of a direct impact on the team than NML did so Ojo gets my vote.

You can’t argue with those stats. I think this demonstrates how our own internal hard-wired bias works when discussing players.

I love a player beating a man with trickery or raw pace and getting behind the defence. In recent years Burke,Noone, Holiett, NML & Murphy got me out of my seat when squaring up an opponent and then going past him or getting a decent cross in. I think I forget all the times I have berated the same player for not being on it today. I accept their inconsistency and absence in many games over the team player, quietly effective types like Ojo.

I also believe that players grow into themselves and I think the academy system is stifling too many good kids from playing and reaching their potential much earlier than a decade ago. He is 23.5 years old and barely played so there may be more to come.

What are Murphy’s stats as when on the pitch he scores and creates however that’s not enough for some.

From what I've seen of Ojo in recent weeks, he certainly suits the Mick McCarthy system. He has more confidence and I believe he will continue to improve given a continual run in the team.
I would love to have a first choice front line of Wilson, Moore and Ojo going into next season.
If along with this we could have a quality experienced creative midfielder we could challenge for promotion again next season.
However, all of this is very unlikely unless Mr Tan dusts off his cheque book once again.
