It’s thought maybe March?
Jordi Osei-Tutu
It was a hammer blow for Cardiff City when Jordi Osei-Tutu's hamstring injury ruled him out for the best part of the season.
The Arsenal loanee looked like a real asset at the start of the season, but his injury forced Neil Harris into fielding a patchwork team and it all looked a little out of kilter thereafter.
We thought Osei-Tutu would be back last month, but after suffering a setback while playing for the under-23s, it put another six weeks on to his return date.
But six weeks from Harris' first assessment takes up until the end of February and the chances of the right-back returning then look remote, it must be said.
And last week McCarthy was none the wiser regarding the player's return. When asked if he had a tentative date in mind, he replied: "No. Forgive me, I have had no contact with him or the club [Arsenal], I haven’t spoken to anybody about him.
"I have just been dealing with the players who are here and fit and who can play."
The beginning of March appears most likely, though, provided there are no more setbacks.
Isaac Vassell
Now we come to the long-term absentees.
Isaac Vassell never played a game of senior football during Harris' 14-month reign as manager, which is astonishing in itself.
What is perhaps more concerning, though, is that he looks no more likely to feature under McCarthy this season.
The striker's quad injury is a real source of concern and there really does seem to be no end in sight for the striker, which is an utter shame.
He is not involved in first-team training and where he sits regarding ever playing for City's first team again is anyone's guess.

Chris,
Think Arsenal will let Tutu go in the summer be a great addition if we could get him for free?
Vassel sorry but he should be released in the summer. Injury prone players are going to find it hard to get clubs as they won’t want to sign players who are regularly injured anymore. Jazz is one to highlight.

I was told that in December he will be advised soon to retire to avoid any further or permanent damage. The Club have a duty to him to avoid that.

Should be done for breach of contract, as Im sure it must mention the phrase "professional footballer" - in any court he is not one of those. Needs to go immediately with a health warning - fit for the knackers yard unfortunately

He was injured while doing the job he was contracted to do. You try firing someone after that for being unfit for the job on his job description and see how far you get.

I think he was just joking but in fairness if you looked at all his clubs he’s had serious injury problems. If you were buying a car that had the same problems it would have been crushed by now.
