JONNY WILLIAMS UPDATE

Mon Feb 08, 2021 5:18 pm

Monday 8th February 2021

Will prob miss Rotherham game, more likely Coventry home next Saturday :bluebird:

Jonny Williams

What rotten luck Jonny Williams endured during his first week in training at Cardiff City.

McCarthy revealed on the eve of the game that the Wales international had been "clubbed" around the back of the knee during training on Friday, which eventually ruled him out of the clash with the Robins.

"Typical Jonny," McCarthy said. "He gets clattered in training. It was a bang on the back of his knee. I don't think it'll be long.

"Maybe next week."

Whether that means the playmaker will be available for Rotherham on Tuesday evening or whether McCarthy will play it safe and earmark Coventry at home on Saturday for his return remains to be seen, though.

Now usually when the club say a player is doubtful for midweek but could be in contention for Saturday, it means he's out for 2 months. Pisses me off that this happened in training, where a lot of our injuries seem to stem from.

Frustrating that the injury occurred because of a challenge from one of our own players in training.

Mick McCarthy seems to be quite honest about injuries, as we've seen with him comments about Osei-Tutu. So I think we can take him at his word that Saturday is the target for him.

I seem to remember Mick telling the media Tomlin's full recovery timetable in one his press conferences.

Harris used to lie about injuries and said that players were back for a certain match but they never were. He knew full well they were out for longer than he said.

What a silly and naive comment.

Injuries happen all the time in training in every club.

It’s not netball they’re playing, it’s a physical game ffs.

What about Dean Ashton who got a career ending injuring in training with England?
Shattered his ankle ... it happens.

Still, another way of being negative towards the club guess. Well done.

Be lucky to get 5 games out of Williams, £10,000 a game.
