‘ Leeds, Villa and Burnley want Cardiff Star ‘

Mon Feb 08, 2021 11:30 am

A glut of Premier League clubs have once again been put on red alert after fresh reports have emerged that Liverpool are ready to cash in on Harry Wilson this summer.

With Wilson standing out as Cardiff’s main player to change games and attack , his value will have gone up and a number big Premier League clubs have already shown their interest, with Liverpool expected to cash in on him.

Monday 8th February 2021

Cardiff have Wilson on a season long loan after Wilson decided on the Welsh club to further his Wales career.

City had a good deal with only having to pay half of Wilson’s £15,000 a week wages.

The reports of City having to pay money for him were well wide of the mark.

The 23-year-old was wanted by a number of top-flight teams before last October's transfer deadline, Aston Villa and Leeds United among them, while a last-minute move to Burnley never came to fruition after the two clubs could not agree a fee despite the Clarets tabling a £12m bid.

It meant the Wales international penned a season-long loan move to Cardiff City, where he has shown many moments of sheer class - although some supporters have wanted to see more.

And now, according to The Athletic, it is thought Jurgen Klopp will be looking for suitors when Wilson returns back to Merseyside at the end of the season.

However Harvey Elliott, who has impressed at Blackburn Rovers, and Takumi Minamino, who left for Southampton on loan on deadline day last week, are two who will have futures at Anfield.

It means Wilson, along with fellow Bluebird Sheyi Ojo, ex-Cardiff star Marko Grujic, Loris Karius and Taiwo Awoniyi will likely be heading for a permanent move this summer.

Whether the likes of Villa, Leeds or even Burnley reignite their interest remains to be seen, however what is for certain is that the next few months are crucial for the Welshman.

Wilson has contributed three goals and six assists in 20 Championship appearances for the Bluebirds this term, often adding that touch of class or a fierce set-piece delivery.

Despite not starting either of Mick McCarthy's first two games in charge, Wilson has provided two crucial assists in his last two outings, having been rewarded with his first start under the new manager against Bristol City last weekend.

There may have been concerns on Wilson's part following the omission from McCarthy's first two games, however the win over the Robins last weekend will go a long way to cementing the idea that he is indeed a crucial cog in Cardiff's best XI moving forward.

Wilson will no doubt want to improve his goals and assists tally before the end of the campaign, sending Cardiff up the table in doing so in an ideal world, in order to attract as many top-flight suitors as possible. He is clearly talented enough to secure a Premier League move, as many in this part of the world who has tracked his progress for years know all too well.

He has shown his Premier League credentials with Bournemouth last season, too, despite seeing the Cherries succumb to relegation, while he has impressed in the Championship previously with both Derby County and Hull City.

Premier League clubs will certainly be monitoring Wilson carefully over the course of the next few months, though, and that will prove crucial in determining where the Wales star's future lies.

He needs a permanent move.

Shame it will not be us as we are now out of the Premier promotion chase. He would have been a great signing if we got to the Premier.

He's a decent player, not having the same impact that Camarasa had however.

He needs to step-up a bit like Grealish did for Villa and start bossing games in the last part of the season. Playing Cam with Moore & Ojo/Watters ahead of him should give him plenty more time on the ball and more options going forward.

I’d be more worried about losing Moore this summer.

If a PL comes he will be gone! Or has he already?

He a far better player than Camarasa that’s why Premier League clubs want to sign him? If we had been promoted this season we would have signed him!
Camarasa like Arter was overrated by some Cardiff fans despite being hot and cold for us in our relegation team and he couldn’t get into an average Crystal Palace team or the Real Betis team?

If Moore has a good summer in the Euro‘s then there’s no doubt he will move on. We could potentially look at getting £15 million plus for him if that happens.

I think most of us accepted that he'd be only with us for a season unless we had been promoted.

The way some of our fans talk, you'd think he's scored 20 goals and had 10 assists already.

He's had 9 goal involvements, with six assists and three goals.

Kieffer Moore has scored three more goals than Wilson has had goal involvements.

According to WhoScored who comprehensively compile stats, he hasn't even been in one of our top three players this season. Kieffer Moore, Sean Morrison and Curtis Nelson all have higher ratings. Wilson is ranked fourth.

The stats prove he hasn't been one of our top players this season.

He hasn't set the Championship alight this season, so Liverpool will have to be realistic in how much they want for him.

They wanted £20m last summer but they'll get nothing near that now.

They'll be hoping he has a good end to the season, or they'll struggle to get a decent amount of money for him.

He's a good player on his day ,I'd worry about his tempremant when things don't go well and I'd wonder if all the fuss about him would be the same if he was English

I thought we had a 'deal' in place subject to certain conditions, i.e. promotion?

I know it's unlikely now (promotion) but I recall the figures mentioned weren't huge...

That's not the point, he's not having the same impact Camarasa had for us. I think he would've been awesome for us in the Champ were we able to keep a decent team together. Sadly we could not. Harry Wilson has not had anywhere near the same influence so far.

I do think Harry is a better player on than Camarasa on his day but my point is he hasn't had a stand-out game for us yet. Bristol City away was a bit more like it and there are the odd flashes here and there but we need way more. Maybe Tomlin coming back in will help.

You forget that some of our fans think the sun shines out of Wilson's arse just because he's Welsh.

As a club we have lost our Welsh identity due to a lack of players coming through our Academy so we are just like any other Club in the English League.Wilson chose us over many others because he is Welsh and knew the City and Stadium that’s why we should have more Welsh players! Even Warnock got pissed off with Camarasa because he would drop out if he had a slight niggle and his team told him not to play, he’s never going to be a top player!
