BRISTOL CITY 9 FIRST TEAM PLAYERS INJURED:
Chris Martin joins a lengthy list on the sidelines - with George Nurse, Cameron Pring, Tommy Rowe, Jay Dasilva, Liam Walsh, Callum O'Dowda, Marley Watkins, Nathan Baker and Andi Weimann all out injured.
Bristol are highly depleted with important players out. Rotherham and Coventry are two of the poor teams this season. On paper we should expect at least 6 points .
If we get 6 - I believe we can start looking further up the table. If we get 5 - we are still in with a shout . If we get 4 we are looking for trouble. If we get 3 or less then we have real problems. My heart and my gut feeling is optimistic........ perhaps it is wishful thinking.
My mind is not so optimistic ........ perhaps I am preparing myself for the worst.
I am quite confident and hopefully this is the turning point

For me, Murphy and Wilson have to start. When they come on last game they totally changed the game. But would feel a bit for bacuna as thought he was good aswell. It was the first time last game that I really enjoyed even though we didn't get the win. I honestly think we are on the up the team just needed time and think we are almost there,we will soon see today

This is def a winnable game for Cardiff today, Bristol City have major injury problems and are also on a terrible run, its a Cardiff win

I see that they have several players missing from injury, should benefit us!
However my worry is we are still slow and pedantic in our play and continually conceding early goals. A lot of the players have lost confidence others only putting in half a shift. The rot has certainly set in and it’s going to be difficult to shift it.
Next three games are must wins but I have doubts

We will concede in the first 15mins and we will have to battle back to try rescue a point. Until we stop conceding the first goal we arnt going to climb the table.
In other circumstances a point would probably be a good result today. But we really need a win and put some points between us and bottom 3. Hoping for a good performance and result today. But a good will result will do regardless of performance!

For me this is must not lose game so set up defensively and maybe open up a bit in the later stages.Rotherham is a must win game.

If I remember correctly, they were highly depleted the last time we played them at the CCS.

if we conceded in under 15 minutes again - it means whoeve is in charge of warming up / drilling the defence needs to have a long hard think about they are doing wrong.
In the Warnock - before the start of any game, I think it was Jepsom would take the 4 defenders and one other off to side and they would work on specific drills - and that seemed to work given the we got promoted

Always optimistic before a game, Annis and that is how it should be...!
We know what this side is capable of and with the impetus of a new manager and an injection fresh ideas, we can climb the table; although I now believe any thoughts of the Play-offs should be put to bed and once 'safe' Mick McCarthy should look blood the youngstersitto the team over the remainder of the season

Chris, I honestly am and I can see three points if we attack them from the first seconds

Let's hope MM gets us on the front foot from the start

I’d be disappointed with anything less than 3 points today. Not taking anything away from Bristol City, they’ve had a decent season but we need to start pulling our socks up and getting some wins. What better way to show this intention than winning today?

We have to stop conceding the first goal in every game - look at the reverse fixture, The Wurzels score early and we then totally dominate but can't score. If we can get to half time level then I think Murphy and Wilson will come on to open up the game though I would prefer at least one of them to start to put Bristol City on the back foot from the off. However, I doubt that will be our tactics.

Trouble with that is we can't defend, so likely will go behind. Would love to see us go at teams from the start.
