Mother in her 80's - on the vulnerable list and shielding since March. No vax as yet and no date.
Friends Dad in Rhiwbina 89 - heart condidtion - no vax date as yet.

Uncle in Birmingham 75 no health issues got the vax 2 weeks ago.
Auntie in Newcastle 80 - no health conditions - got the vax just before new year.

Drakeford / Gething do a fecking fantastic job again - maybe my mum's jab is one of the ones he wants to keep hold of to make it last. They are a complete and utter shower of sh1t.

Just remember - in May you have the chance to get rid of them - after 21 years of the same party - if nothing else - let someone else have a go. The current lot have nothing but contempt for their electorate - as they know the sheep of Wales will vote them in again, regardless of how they perform.

Wow. It’s crazy how you had this thought, started writing it, continued writing it, finished it and posted it, all without realising how absolutely silly the comparison is.

I’ve heard Tokyo has more busses running than Tenby. I assume we should give the public transport department the boot too?

Come on boys, the vaccination programme in Wales is moving along pretty well.
Why not have just a small bit of optimism about the final outcome instead of doom and gloom.
You never know, it may just work and we could all be back watching City play live again next season.

I’m guessing you’re joking !! If not then you really should think before you post !!

The rate per head is obviously the key measure and at the moment Wales is ahead of the rest of the UK.

We will only get the same proportion of jabs per head as the rest of the UK so will be reliant on supplies coming through.

Wales were too slow at the start but can’t criticise the rollout at the moment.

Don’t think Ion’s joking, just having an absolute mare

You’re correct (obviously :? ) that rate per head and total per head are the key measures. As we can see below, Wales and the whole of the UK are doing very well.

Currently the number of jabs distributed per 100 people (today’s increase)
England 23.3 (+0.9)
Wales: 22.2 (+1.4)
N. Ireland: 21.8 (+1.1)
Scotland: 18.0 (+1.0)

Ion, just in case you didn’t notice Wales doesn’t have a population of ~55 million that link should help you fella

Not that I am one to decent WAG but if that's true then get onto their GP/Local AM or somebody as that doesn't sound right.

People in their early 70s are getting the Jab in our area now, mates Parents went yesterday and family friends been today. South East Wales.

ITS very random the allocation of vax whilst WG boast about how brilliant they're doing there are lots if people who should have had it weeks ago but haven't.... the fault lies with GPs as they are ones who submit list of people who are eligible to health board who then organise the delivery of vax to the various outlets... personally have no faith in system as it appears lots of people getting vax just because of age and ones with medical conditions outside certainly groups are not priority... I know as I'm one and move within health service and hear things.. :o

Wales has overtaken England to lead the UK on the rate of the population getting a first dose of Covid vaccine.

More than 550,000 people in the top priority groups have been given their first doses of Covid vaccines in Wales.

It means 17.7% of the Welsh population has been vaccinated, compared to 17.5 % of the population in England, 14.4% in Scotland and 15.3% in Northern Ireland.

There had been criticism that the vaccination rollout in Wales had faced a slower start than the rest of the UK.

Health Minister Vaughan Gething said they had "been planning for months to get this right".

"I was confident we would get to at least the same place as other UK nations, and I did say that consistently at the outset," he said.

The news should give people confidence that "we do know what we are doing", he added.

"It's obviously very positive news for Wales," Mr Gething said.

"This really is not just a marathon, it's more like an ultra-marathon because we have got many, many more people to vaccinate."

Rhun ap Iorewerth, Plaid Cymru's health spokesman, said the figures showed Wales was "in a good place" but added there was "a lot that needs to be done yet".

He added that key workers including school staff and public transport staff "need now to be brought into the priority list" for vaccinations.

Leader of the Conservatives in Wales, Andrew RT Davies, said it was down to the UK government's "bold decision" that Wales was able to access vaccines to "reach this achievement".

"Had the Welsh Labour government had its way, Wales would now be stuck in the EU procurement scheme, with huge swathes of the population still waiting to be vaccinated," Mr Davies said.

There was "still a long way for us to go," he added.

Who has received a dose in Wales so far?

The daily numbers show 155,884 of the over-80s - 84.7% - have now received a first dose.

In addition, 68.4% of those aged 75 to 79 and nearly 42.9% of those aged 70 to 74 have had their first doses.

Meanwhile, 78.2% of care home residents have had their first dose. There is a little overlap between the two groups and figures are adjusted as more information is collated.

Sometimes there is a complication with immunising residents if there is an outbreak at a home, leading to a wait of 20 days until it is clear of the virus.

In addition, 81.5% of care home workers, or 32,668, have received a vaccine dose.

The other key priority group is healthcare workers, with 113,059 of them so far given a vaccine dose.

It means Wales is on course to meet its target for the top priority groups by 12 February under the seven day average, or by 10 February if based just on Friday's daily figure.

Had mine on Friday, should be well on course to have had 2nd Jab by May. Then im all good to go when vaccine passports are rolled out for big the events and foreign hols.

No passport no access perhaps?? Lol , a dystopian new world. I hope we don't go down this road in the long term. Short term, yes but ffs.

So long as you're okay, then...?

I'm happy you (and anyone else on the 'more at risk' list) had your jab but I'm less glad you find it amusing (quote) "no passport, no access perhaps. Lol"

I can assure you many more do not (find it amusing); but I guess part of your glee was you had 'something for nothing' and think you can now trot off on a holiday with a gleeful "Stuff you...look at me, I'm okay..." attitude to everyone else

So much for being in this pandemic 'together', eh?

Re: Vaccines Wales

Sun Feb 07, 2021 12:52 pm

My mum got her jab yesterday NOT because she recieved a letter. She rang up the GP surgery (against WG advice) and asked if they had forgotten her. The response - oh no problem come down this afternoon.

She only got it because she asked - there are probably lots of others in her position that were too polite to ask and waited instead.

GP surgeries - are all different - some fecking beyond incompetent - others well run. Same goes for Health Boards (why we need so many in Wales is beyond me_) but some are good others seem inept to the point they should be scrapped.

who runs / controls all this - The WG Health Minister Vaughan Gething and his Boss Mark Drakeford. They have been exposed in this pandemic - it's almost been like a test of competence. They've had 8 months to prep for a vax roll - and on the whole - they have been behind the curve from the start. Now that they have eventually caught up - they are blowing trumpets about how good they are.

I would have to question the sanity of anyone who wants these clowns in charge for the next 4 or 5 years.
Lib Dems dont know if they are Marthur or Arthur when it comes to anything and the only AM they have is retiring as she couldnt handle the heat (Kirsty Williams).

That leaves Plaid Cymru or the Conservatives. I dont mind Plaid - but I think theyre politics tends to be inward looking socialism with a heavy dash of Nationalism (that doesnt sit too comfortably with me) Whoever gets in down the Bay - I just hope it's someone new. As that place needs a rocket up it's backside from Education - Health - Exports to Economics
