When you consider our league position and the issues they’ve had with a lack of cover, I still can’t quite believe Cardiff loaned out Glatzel without replacing him. He may well have been an expensive mistake, but letting him go may prove more costly

Agreed.

But let's look on the positive side.

When he returns at the end of his loan he could be a real threat in League 1

he is not a target man so therefore not a like for like replacement anyway.... and quite simply we have been a lot less likely to win if he is playing than any other player...hope he kicks on in Germany and we get some money for him.. why do people want players here that are clearly not working out ?

Glatzel had the 2nd best success rate,at attempts on target, more than moore, and 20% better than wilson on 33%! He just isnt our type of striker! Why warnock thought he could change him god knows! Hope he goes on and does well in germany! Perhaps MM should tell his players to look at his interview, and how he loved it here, more passion and connection than the rest of them put together!!

In all fairness to the OP and irrespective of if - to date - his transfer has not worked out, he is our second best striker overall. The other striker back up options are not deemed target men either, so barring finding a replacement, personally I’d have kept him until the summer. This is based on our current league position and very real time threat of relegation as my thought process would have been different if we had nothing to play for.

Moving forward, I tend to agree that a successful stint back in Germany will make him a more sellable asset, one in which the club could potentially cash in on this coming summer. Hopefully, we will still be in the more financially lucrative Championship, as opposed to League 1.

2nd best striker is opinion and sorry but not mine.... we lose more with him than we do without him and desperately need wins.

Many things in football are opinion based, but I’m yet to see anyone put up a counter argument for our strikers based on key facts such as goals scored. On this basis, I’d place him in the top two of our current striking options ahead of a so called youngster with potential, a lower division gamble and an injury plagued squad player.

Are you putting Wilson in this list, despite the fact he plays out wide or as an attacking midfielder for us?

As for losing more with Glatzel than we do without him, I haven’t done the maths on that one, but it’s possible in a team sport to play well and still be on the losing side.

For what it’s worth, I think getting rid is the correct decision, I’m merely questioning the timing as we are getting ever nearer the bottom three. Moore is quality, I just hope he doesn’t get injured and hopefully we will never have to find out who is the 2nd best out of the current crop.
