' For me he needs to start more & given a run of games '

For me our team needs pace and Murphy offers that :thumbright: :bluebird:

' Josh Murphy '

Murphy has been restricted to just 18 appearances, with the winger making three league starts this term.

The 25-year-old has been with the club since 2018, and is behind the likes of Harry Wilson and Sheyi Ojo in the pecking order at this moment in time.

He was linked with a move away from Cardiff City during the January transfer window, with Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Derby County being just some of the teams credited with interest in landing his signature.

City wanted at least £5mill and understandably after paying £11mill for Josh Murphy.

But a move failed to materialise in the end, and Murphy will surely be looking to force his way into the starting XI on a more consistent basis moving forward in the second-half of the 2020/21 season.

Get Murphy, Moore and Wilson up front. We know they can attack so MM needs to go for it.

Even if he does get a run of games he still won’t offer anything to the team. Spending 11 million on him has to be worse than the Cornelius Transfer, at least he’s gone on to top leagues and done well. Murphy is a lower championship Player and hasn’t shown anything in the last 3 years to suggest he’s anything better. 3 different managers have benched him and you can see why when he comes on he hardly impacts the game, can’t even beat a man. People always make excuses for him but a quality player stands out in teams and can snatch a win or draw with their quality. He hasn’t done that once and I’m surprised he isn’t one of the players we’ve got rid off. Losing Mendez and keeping this waste of space is a travesty.

Agreed, I don’t understand all these people saying give him a run of games to prove himself.

He’s had plenty of runs of games and proved that he has plenty of ability but literally no application or passion to go with it.

I really hope I’m proved wrong but up to now he’s been a liability.

Smithies
NG Morrison Brown Bennett
Vaulks Ralls
Murphy Williams Wilson
Moore

That's the team I would like to see against Bristol. They have alot of injuries at the moment mainly to their creative players so playing hoofball against them will play into their hands.

Left footers on the left and right footers on the right. We have one of the best front men in the league who has 10 goals living off scraps. Imagine if we start supplying decent service to him how many he will get then.

Brown deserves his chance at LCB, Flint and Nelson are poor and Brown has impressed in the games I've seen of him up there and reading the Livingston forum they were gutted to see him go.

Last chance for Murphy, all wingers dip in and out of form but his work rate is what let's him down badly. There's a talented footballer in there somewhere I just hope big Mick can get the best out of him.

Thats a good looking positive team. Let's hope MM will agree and pick this 11.

I think Murphy can flourish once the handbrake released.

MM has accrued enough football knowledge and can hopefully turn this side around.

C'mon City Onwards and upwards

Charge!!

Not a fan of Murphy. Can't shield the ball, is knocked off it to easily, is gutless and puts no effort into the game.
If he had cost us £1m. We would have got rid of him by now. The only reason we are trying to get him into the team is because we paid £11m for him and no club in their right mind would pay that for him now.
He either has to wake up and apply himself or go in the close season and save his wages.

When selecting the team we have to come to it from the point of view that this season is effectively over in terms of making the playoffs or being relegated. What that means is we need to do some planning for next season. We are never going to get anywhere unless we have two decent goal scorers up front. For me we have to give Watters an extended go up front alongside Moore to see if he can be an effective striker at this level perhaps he won't be at this level but we won't know till we try him.Yes we know Wilson can score at this level but he isn't going to with us next season. On the same basis we need to give one or two of the youngsters a go.

As for Murphy can't see any reason that he is an out and out striker. Norwich didn't think so and neither did two managers for us. His skill set suggest he is a winger and could be a very good one with more application. Think it is fanciful to think he could be converted to a striker.

100 percent give Murphy the start in the next 5 games. He has talent just needs confidence and a front 3 of josh, Harry and Moore I would love to see.

MM clearly.picks players on training and form though

Never realised,he has only scored 11 times for us in three years!! Whilst I think he has talent, for me he lacks the mental application needed to be an £11m player? I don't get this "he's a confidence player" bullshit personally, all players are confidence players, strikers go on lean spells, it's not how you get knocked down, its how you get back up that counts!
For me,yeah give him that "run" of games, but if he continues to be less than impressive, he needs to be let go as soon as,and no doubt at huge loss too.TIME TO STAND UP MR MURPHY!! :old: :bluebird:

No mate your wrong.

The time to STAND UP was 2 years ago!!

The guys been a disgrace.

If McCarthy deems to give him this elusive run of games then fair enough but if he shows very little like he has for the previous two managers then since he’s been here then sod him!

I agree with the confidence thing.

Nearly 3 years of no confidence? Sick of the excuses.

he isnt a road digger... and thats exactly what his knockers want him to be inbetween going on about modern football and a sexy football playing young manager with loads of coach school cliches that they picked up off the bloke with a book who used them to impress him... people want everything.. he did ok in the prem considering how out gunned we were every week. scored 3 but our top scorer only had 5......was in and out last season out more than in... but with 47 and a half games gone was joint top scorer...maybe needs to be covered or carried a bit but those saying he hasnt had any effect on games must have short memories .. changed the game in barnsley doesnt start against millwall is the tale of josh..or when harris was here go on boy the boards going up and has 3 mins on it try and win us the game....
he isnt fantastic but is a lot better than what gets said on here...

Yes of course he needs to stand up, man up or get his wet nurse to help him.

What I’m saying is over the two & a half years that he’s been playing for us and for the amount of talent the guy has he should be the first name on the team sheet.

There’s a lot more than having talent to be a top professional footballer though and Murphy is the typical example of this.

The flip side is a player like Kevin Keegan who had relatively less talent than those around him but made up for it by being the exact opposite to everything Murphy is.

Again, we all hope McCarthy can get him playing though.
