Glatzel - likeable guy but no loss

Tue Feb 02, 2021 8:13 am

And I don't think that was purely because of our long standing inability to play any sort of football which lasts more than two passes - he was just too weak, poor in the air, not quick, not the best touch.
He won't be missed - he never looked capable of becoming a useful striker in this league.
Our record at signing strikers has been poor for a decade. Clearly Moore has been an exception this season but for all those bemoaning Glatzel's exit - he just wasn't that good.

I do agree mate. I think the ‘what if Moore is injured’ is the question on most people’s lips.
I’m sure there’s a plan B like free agents etc

Im in the corner of glatzel, was asked to become something he isnt, not really fair to slate him, warnock paid good money for him,in the belief he could re model his game, unfortunately he is used to football played along the floor, and to feet.we still have no striker who can head the bloody ball though!! Good luck in mainz RG.

I'm sorry but on the rare occassions we did play balls to hit feet and not his head, his touch was generally awful. I remember him missing a sitter on his debut - it was a telling moment for what would become a disappointing stint. Let's not even mention his latest penalty.
If he was chucked into Swansea's team today i doubt he would fare much better than here. He had chances in spite of the way we play - he just proved to not be very good at finishing them.

i wish him all the best too... seems a nice enough chap and will benefit us.... this wrong sort of football though...no... yes we play more long ball than most but the majority of the time its not in the air...and none of his touches were from him winning the ball in the air...and none of his movement when we were not in possession { which is most of the time and a huge part of the game } can be blamed on long ball .its a poor workman excuse tbh.... truth be told the very best players at the very best clubs have to deal with long balls sometimes... they adapt...and if they do not its because they are not good enough....

I guess we will see soon enough,if he hits form in germany,as you point out though, the "very best" deal with the odd long ball sometimes!
Donf ghink even warnock was convinced he had signed a player of that calibre, not for 5m anyway.

would love him to do well there but boy is that a tall order.. its a bit out of the frying pan into the fire for him...relegation zone and 7 points adrift isnt exactly a strikers dream....
my point about the very best was to do with the football... at some point all teams play long and yes even the very best have accept that and deal with it...there seems to be this notion / myth that its only Cardiff players have ever seen or had to deal with a ball hit back to front 60 yards...and its never on the deck...

Dalman said he watched him for 2 years before we bought him. Wish Dalman would go instead, a 10 year old could see after 1 game he was not the answer.
