Cardiff City Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Jonny Williams, subject to international clearance.

The Welsh international midfielder joins the Bluebirds for £50,000.

Williams contract is till the end of the season.

Speaking after Jonny put pen to paper at CCS, Mick McCarthy said: "I think it is one of the best deals of the transfer window. Especially late on, we've managed to get Jonny Williams in.

"I worked with him at Ipswich. He was fabulous. He brings a smile to the place. He's very, very talented. And he's Welsh, of course.

"He's delighted to be here. If he can play to his ability, then he'll rip it up."

Having graduated through the Crystal Palace academy, Jonny made a total of 70 appearances for the Eagles in all competitions.

He linked up with Mick McCarthy in loan spells at Ipswich Town, also spending time with Nottingham Forest, MK Dons and Sunderland, before joining Charlton Athletic permanently in 2019.

A 25-cap Wales international, the midfielder netted a late winner for his country away to Bulgaria in this season's UEFA Nations League.

Jonny's first interview as a Bluebird will follow on Cardiff City TV.

I think he'd rather be here on a free than 50k. He must be over whelmed by the faint praise and feel very welcome here. Lets hope that spurs him on to prove a point. There is certainly something in that dressing room that needs sorting out and cheering up. Maybe with these small changes it's enough to shake the tree a bit.

I also loved the post someone put up a while ago describing a player Luigi Glombard who played for us a good few years ago. It was something like - I remember seeing him play for us at Carrow road and his only contribution that day was an inch perfect through ball for Earnie to score. The trouble was that Earnie was playing for Norwich at the time
