The difference in opinions and expectations between a short term managerial appointment like MM versus the fans.
Fans are happy to use the remaining season to start playing better football, using our youngsters and reducing the average age and wage bill of the squad. I think after the awful season we have had up until now most fans, not all, would be happy with that. As long as we don't go down and see some advances in playing style, I, like many, would be happy.
However, compare that to MM - who is desperate to earn a longer term contract but can only do that by achieving some short term success. He wants to add some players who he hopes can make an immediate impact and get us closer to the play offs. The likes of Jonny Williams and even Jordan Rhodes strike me as short term expensive signings (wages) who add nothing to the long term development of the squad.
And therein lies the problem: MM needs short term success where the fans are sick of these gambles, gambles with high salary players we will be stuck with after the managers gamble has not paid off.

Yes it is a conundrum but do nothing but play youngsters to fill in gaps runs risk of relegation which is no good to anyone! Rhodes us a loan so short term cost eilliams got 3 years at least in him so not as bad as previous managers wastfulness.... of course main problem is to many below average players on to much money with 2yrs left on contracts. Not easy problem to solve..

Sadly, as the team has performed so badly we were more likely to drop into a relegation fight than reach the play-offs, so the first priority has to be to get a team that will stay up, but hopefully can also move towards the play-offs. It will be up to the board to manage the deals that the players get and make sure that they are appropriate. A temporary manager needs to be able to show that he can achieve both short-term and long-term goals, which for us realistically is to be staying up this season and providing the basis of a team to challenge again next.
I have followed the City since 1966, and can honestly say that this season with Neil Harris has been the most disappointing as we started off as one of the favorites to go up, yet were so poor as a team that I was even worried when we were playing the relegation favorites!

yes he has 3 years left which no doubt will mostly be seen out here....as for wastefullness only time will tell..but where as some of the previous signings that you call wastes at least they were championship standard players who were playing well at the clubs we bought them off and infact have mostly racked up games here ... this is a lge1 player that does not start who previously played for a bunch of lower end championship teams where he also more often than not did not start...

Ive followed the city for roughly the same time, but would never describe this season as the "most dissapointing " in fairness.
Yes we expected more, but truth is,we dont have the players to change the way we play too much,as has been proven.this season is about consolidating our place in the division now for me,change will have to come during pre season and next year.

We've definitely had worse seasons, but we were expected to be battling near the top this season, with what looked like a competitive squad only to find ourselves nearer the bottom and even beaten by Wycombe. To make it worse I live in Swansea and all my wife's family are Swansea fans.
