Looks like Robert Glatzel is closing in on a move to Bundesliga side Mainz on loan for the rest fo the season.

According to the BBC, Glatzel is on his way back to Germany for a medical ahead of the countyr's 5pm deadline

In terms of outgoings, Robert Glatzel loan to Mainz until the end of the season is definitely on the cards.

Frees up space for another striker

Cardiff City striker Robert Glatzel is set to join Bundesliga side
Mainz on loan until the end of the season.

The deal will be completed, providing the Bluebirds are able to bring in a striker before Monday's transfer deadline at 23:00.

Jordan Rhodes has strongly been linked with a move to Cardiff City Stadium from Sheffield Wednesday in the last 48 hours.

If he’s unsettled and wants to go home I’d let him go, regardless of replacements. We’re gonna be safe this season.

We will miss his prolific goalscoring .oh I forgot he's hardly scored any.

Don't think he is unsettled 62r, his interview showed he classes cardiff as his 2nd home now.
But in all honesty, he wasn't designed and brought up on hoof ball, so would maybe be thinking about playing the football he was brought up on,you know the type, ball on the floor, pass, play football ;)
For those who mock him because he doesn't score a lot? Hard to score when not playing regularly .
I struggle to see why warnock bought him, unless he thought he could be moulded into a lone striker/target man type player?
I wish him the best of luck if he does go. :bluebird: :old:

To be replaced by...

Calum Patterson, he played striker - he played in defence, give him a pair of gloves and he'll go in goals as well.....go on Mick you'll love him and drop in Derby and get Mendez back while youre passing

Cheers Sven, there is definitely something with Glatzel, it's unfortunate he came to the wrong team to show his real assets, to ask him to totally switch after one full season is really unfair on the lad, I've yet to hear any other player describe this city as their 2nd home either :? The lad obviously loves it here, but may need to move to a more "football" playing type team to shine  we shall know soon enough, one way or another.
Not too sure about Rhodes though, you? :ayatollah: :old: :bluebird:

I'd like him to stay of course, but a move could be good for him, as a player you want to play every week, so couldn't blame the lad if he did go.
The rest of the players lack one thing he has in my eyes, and that's the connection to the city,he admits he loves it here, pity a few more didn't wear their heart on their sleeves from time to time. :ayatollah: :old: :bluebird:

Sorry 62, I meant if a potential move to his homeland has turned his head and could make him unsettled, it’s best not to keep him here. I suppose I may be miles off tho and as you say, he seems that he does like the capital of Wales.

I thought we signed a young striker? to replace glatzel or buddy up with vassell.
"Rhodes" please no more oldies where becoming an old folks home.

Re: " ROBERT GLATZEL TO LEAVE CARDIFF CITY "

Mon Feb 01, 2021 7:54 am

Glatzel is a good player with a good attitude, but he’s definitely not cut out for the physicality of the Championship. Hopefully he’ll do well in Germany and in the summer we can recoup some of the £5 mill Warnock paid out for him. All the best Bobby!

Re: " ROBERT GLATZEL TO LEAVE CARDIFF CITY "

Mon Feb 01, 2021 7:54 am

I’ve really wanted Glatzel to succeed here, possibly more than most strikers we’ve had, but it just hadn’t clicked. However this move could be beneficial in a few different ways:

If he plays well in the Bundesliga he could either command a decent transfer fee (or atleast recoup some of what we payed for him), or return here full of confidence.

In saying that I’m not sure if Jordan Rhodes is really the answer... in Big Mick we trust :bluescarf:

I’ve always wanted Glatzel to do well for us but unfortunately it never quite worked out the way we hoped. Can’t fault his work ethic though and wish him the best wherever (and if) he goes

Re: " ROBERT GLATZEL TO LEAVE CARDIFF CITY "

Mon Feb 01, 2021 8:50 am

I think a loan move suits everyone. We shouldn’t sell him as we don’t know who the manager will be next year and if we change the way we play slightly I think glatzel would be good. He is a player but looks out of place with our style. Having said that he was awful when he came on the other night against milwall

Re: " ROBERT GLATZEL TO LEAVE CARDIFF CITY "

Mon Feb 01, 2021 9:00 am

He has just not been at the races with us.

Its not worked out here and now he is out on loan that will be the last we will see of him. He will be sold off come the summer.

Re: " ROBERT GLATZEL TO LEAVE CARDIFF CITY "

He has shown glimpses of ability and scored a few good goals

It was plain to see he struggled with the physical side of the Championship and it’s probably best he moves on to kickstart his career

A short term/loan deal for Rhodes is a no brainier. Prolific at this level a few years ago and whilst his best years are behind him should still be able to offer something different

Keiffer, Watters, Rhodes and Wilson are all proven goalscorers (Watters obviously too a lesser extent)

When was the last time we have 4 regular goalscorers in our squad..10/12 years ago??

Ah, yes. I can see that now and it's an odd one... :thumbright:

Rhodes? I'll give him a chance but can' say I'm enamoured and he may have been a better option when we first went in for him a few years ago. I certainly don't recall him ripping the Championship apart like he was supposed to go late?

Feel for Glatzel; a genuinely nice guy who wants to do well here. Has shown he can clearly 'do the business' in front of goal but for me, I honestly believe he has been hampered by our two former managers style of play

Agree with your assessment on Glatzel mate and it’s virtually the same as I put in the other thread on him by the ‘poster who can’t be wrong’.
He’s a continental type striker and just because he’s a tall guy people think he’s a target man which he’s not.

With regards to Rhodes .... just NO, for me, especially if it’s a purchase and not a loan.
I think I read he’s scored 8 goals since the beginning of the 2018 season?

We should try and swap him for Assombalonga, aprantley Bristol are trying a similar deal with Diedhiou going the other way.

Put him up front for Brentford or Bournemouth and you'll see how good a striker he is.

Unfortunately our previous two managers and the current one won't be playing that kind of footy.

He hasn't scored many here yet, but every single one of theme is a class strike

Agree. He’s just not suited to our style of play.

Rhodes is way way past his best. Terrible signing and no doubt on a good wage still.
