O/T - Reddit vs. WallSt. Am loving this

Not sure if anyone has seen this but it's pretty awesome.

Basically, a group on Reddit called Wall St Bets has played the financial Elites at their own game and a mass movement of retail investors (basically regular folks like us) have basically caught a hedge fund out to the tune of some $7Bn or so.

Is proper working-class vs. elites and has brought a ton of people that would normally be arguing about politics together in realising the common enemy isn't each other but is the handful of very wealthy, very greedy bastards that get there own way and trample on all of us whenever we get in the way.

Might not change the world, but it's taken a lot of money out of the pockets of some very greedy bankers and put it into the pockets of regular people, which after the massive transfer of wealth COVID has brought us, is a very refreshing change.

Apparently, it will all come to a peak sometime mid next week, so worth keeping an eye on.

Proper David vs. Goliath stuff.

They covered this on the News tonight - Shows what can be done ....

Amateur investors are responding with outrage after trading platforms curbed buying of shares in the US games firm GameStop and other companies.

The moves by Robinhood and Interactive Brokers follow days of frenzied trading that led to massive gains for some stocks.

Shares in GameStop dived by as much as 55% after the restrictions.

It is the latest twist in a battle that has pitted amateur investors against Wall Street giants.

Major hedge funds had bet billions of dollars that GameStop's shares would fall.

But they have faced major losses after amateurs, swapping tips on social media sites such as Reddit, drove up the share price by more than 700% in a week.

Other firms, such as AMC Entertainment, Koss Corp and BlackBerry, also saw sharp gains. They were embraced by day traders after hedge funds bet against them.

The activity has drawn questions from regulators, who are monitoring trading amid fears of illegal actions.

However, the amateur investors say they are just playing Wall Street at its own game.

In online forums they discussed legal action and accused Robinhood and other brokerages enacting their own form of market manipulation by restricting purchases of certain shares.

Robinhood co-founder Vladimir Tenev tweeted that the firm had taken its decision based on regulatory requirements, and said limited buys of the restricted stocks would be allowed from Friday.

Robin Hood now facing class action law suit for suspending activity and defending the hedge funds. This could end up being huge news...

About time something like this happened

Huge hedge funds shorting shares is manipulating the market to make big profits for greedy corporations

Regulators should have looked at this years ago and it should be banned

For those who are not familiar with this subject of Hedge Funding here is a basic understanding of it.

Hedge Funding is controlled by the big corporations such as the big banks and Institutions like JP Morgan. Lets call them c**ts and you will see why.

So lets say when a price of a share goes up the c**ts will force it down using billions of £/$s of OUR money. Then when they have intice Retail traders like me to sell they then push the price back up taking the Retail Sellers money. The c**ts make billions this way and give back to the Investor in their corporation a peanut. So for every £100 they make they give a dividend of about 0.5p if you are lucky.

So what has happened here is that some clever clogs on the Internet, Reddit forum, have seen this move by the c**ts and have advised us all to BUY into this Gameshop thing. Due to everyone taking this advice it has caused the c**ts to go into what is called Drawdown. That being a loss and a very big one at that.

Now if more and more people continued BUYing into this then it would cause the collapse of some of the c**ts out there. So Gameshop have stopped retailers BUYing the shares and are now only allowing Sells on the trade to happen. This order has come from one of the c**ts to Gameshop. Gamestop have broken SEC protocol here, SEC being the America FCA, and their top man was interviewed on some American television channel. He look very sheepish in his replies and that is mainly he is going to have to take the bullet for this and will be going to jail for a long time. Unfortunately he will take the hit for for c**ts as he will be too scared to name names.

Agree with all of the above and a decent summary that a simple layman like me could understand so good job :thumbright:

One thing is I don't think it was Gamestop who stopped retailers buying shares, I think it was the brokers (eToro/RobinHod etc). I might be wrong though?

Also, the idea is spreading now. Malaysian equivalent opened called BursaBets taking the same approach

I'll be honest, I'm loving this, it's like the regular people of the world have all suddenly woken up and realised that actually, we hold the power, and these elitist banker types are just playing us all for fools.

Saw this cartoon earlier and thought it sums it all up perfectly.

Oops, I forgot my place then Sven. The forum narrative is that, I should be very grateful and expect nothing back in return .

Hard up fooball clubs and other corps/banks are not shafting their fanbases/customers up and down the country whilst players and corporate boardroom types are raking it in.

Be thankful for the crumbs they throw our way is the correct tone.

Well FU... um!!!!!!! Play that broken record folks , crank the fu... volume right up so these robbing bas... in every boardroom of every industry will need sound proofing to quell that great reset.

Or, just carry on like little mice with your tails between your legs feeding on crumbs.

Mate you really need to find a hobby. Try pottery or buy a couple jigsaws or something, chuck on a CD and sit back with a nice hot drink on these winter days.

I'm sure the club have taken on board every single one of your comments and they're being discussed in great length. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I bought into AMC and GME earlier in the week using the IG trading platform here in the UK. Never done anything like it before but felt I wanted to do a bit of damage to the c*nts at the top and hitting their money is how it's done. Anyways this morning I received an email from my trading platform saying now they are restricting ALL purchases of AMC and GME in order to 'protect' me. Like when in the entire f*cking history of banks, bookies and traders have they ever said 'soz m8 we can't take your money because we are worried that you'll get hurt'. It's a clear sign that people at the top are genuinely worried about their own cash and are applying pressure on platforms to stop the little folk from playing the game. Anyways, bring on the games today.

Etoro still allows trading (markets are closed at the moment but there's no limits when they're open). I bought in a few days back and I've heard from a few people much more knowledgeable than me in the subject it's one of the better platforms.
Already up 10% or so, can't complain with that :ayatollah:
