Yet some people saying Ralls had the worst game of the season last night.

Some people have a complete vendetta against him. I think he is actually one of our better players however he is having to cover and do the work for 2 other incompetent center midfielders at the moment.

For me Ralls is underrated.

I rate him and he is the most consistent and one of out best players :bluebird:

I thought he ran his socks off last night bacuna must have had a joint before the game he looked slow and lost and vaulks tbrew the ball more than he kicked it
should have been a keeper.

Spot on.
He’s our best midfielder by far.
Not the most skilful but always works hard. He would be even better with a skilful player or two alongside him.

I think he is our best midfielder by a mile, but I’m not sure he did enough to be named in the team of the week

I agree, even my Swans supporting mates rate Ralls. Pretty much the only one sling with Wilson & Smithies they’d have in their current side according to them

Ralls. Yes.

I’m not a fan to be honest he does try and work hard but to me he lacks quality in final third and his passing is shocking plus he can’t take the game by the scruff and win it for us. Although he is better than pack and bacuna. I think we probably got one of the worst centre midfields in the league.

Ralls is a quality midfielder imo who does the basics extremely well and is good both in and out of possession. Reminds me of Denis Irwin at Man Utd years ago (albeit a different position) who was consistently a 7/10 player, sprinkled with a few memorable performances and whose true value to the team wasn’t realised until he was sidelined.

Sometimes people jump on the bandwagon of other people’s opinions. The same bandwagon as the Bennett and Morrison complainers, despite their obvious abilities at this level.

What?? Are you watching the same games Ralls has been awful. So has Bennett.

I bet the people defending these players are the ones who want the playing style to change....but keep the same players and line up!!

I’ll politely make the assumption this is aimed at me as Bennett is mentioned, so let’s look at each player individually.

Ralls has just been named in the team of the week by the so called football experts, yet still some of our fans slate him. I bet the people doing such a thing to players representing Cardiff City would have more joy supporting Barcelona, as Ralls is a solid performer by Championship standard and does the basics extremely well.

As for Bennett, I can’t think of a better LB to play for Cardiff in my time watching since 1988 (Fabio was a close second) and I’ve warmed to his whole hearted approach and willingness to get stuck in. Added to that, he has undoubted footballing ability and again is an asset to a Championship level football team.

As for the style, I’m not too bothered about that, I’m more concerned about results. However, to get results, changes need to be made, but they need to be the correct changes, namely improving the weaker areas of our team. We can’t get rid of an entire squad as that would be unrealistic, but players such as Nelson, Bacuna (at RB and CM), Pack, Glatzel and Vaulks have all performed worse than Ralls or Bennett, the later two ironically that could easily adopt a high tempo, passing style of football, thus giving the change of playing style you say some propose.

Just my opinion of course and I appreciate we all see the game differently.

My appetite for playing actual football and wanting players to be a bit more clinical doesn’t come from the joys of watching Barcelona. It’s because after spending thousands of pounds (im aware some older fans would have spent a lot more) I’d like to see our style of play change.

Keep hold of this post, if your mug like me your probably paying for the EFL player, which guarantees to have more blips than Sunday league team. If Ralls or Bennett perform tomorrow I’ll happily say you were right and I’m a complete idiot.

As you say we’re all here to support the same team.

Completely agree about Fabio. Cut above the entire squad that guy. His work ethic was insane.

I’m hoping he plays youth tomorrow. I’d love to see Murph, Wilson and Harris have a start. Trying to think if Harris ever started a game with those 3. Or Bagan. Harris is yet to impress me but I feel like he’s got something about him.

I tend to judge players over an entire season where form will naturally fluctuate, but I get the sentiment.

As much as I personally rate Bennett, I’d have no problem with using the remainder of this season to intermittently see if Bagan is second tier standard. He’s still developing physically, hence can be weak at times, but looks a good prospect. The foundations for our last promotion were laid the season prior, particularly in defence, where players were allowed to gel as a team. There’s no reason we can’t do something similar this term in other positions, particularly with players such as Murphy.

Murphy needs a run of games where we reserve judgement whilst he gets his confidence up - at least we will have a better idea if he’s wanted for next season - and, like you, I’d also like to see him and Wilson start.

Enjoy the match and no shouting at the TV.
