‘ Our midfield... ‘

Is a fkn shambles and where we need to rebuild ASAP. No service to the attackers and constantly letting the other team run through, putting our badly organised defence under unneccessary pressure.
This is BY FAR the worst Cardiff team in a long while and needs a complete rebuild.

Harris should have gone after the loss to Coventry. Might have given Mick a chance. Unless drastic action is taken in THIS transfer window we really are in the proverbial sh#t

Ralls can go... he is useless and wouldn't stand out in a lower league as being any better than most.

at last after months and months of saying an seeing the same thing, the light has come on from others.

Bacuna and Pack are frauds, bloody useless, Vaulks is probably in the wrong club for his game and Ralls is passed his best days (stop all this club man stuff).

Just cancel their contracts, bet they won;t get another club on the same wages as here, no one is that fecking stupid.

Arri I am with you I have never rated Ralls...it shows him for what he is playing alongside those other 3 below par midfielders...he used to get away with it alongside Gunnarsson and Arter..alll 4 need to go no pace in any of them

I just hope it doesn’t take Mick 10 games to realise it. This is the poorest midfield I can remember. You can’t dress it up any other way. Question you have to ask would any of our midfield get into any other team in the top ten. Shear lack of quality and pace.

if they were with us in the old 4th division they'd be in traction in hospital by now, terry boyle, perry and george wood would never have put up with them, let alone if mullen had been around and later paul ramsey and paul millar would have strung them up

I hope the spirited comeback tonight wont hide the fact that like mentioned our midfield is awful. Pack, Ralls, Bacuna should be first out the door. Vaulks ,im not sure, he lacks quality but at least seems to try. Maybe Mick could entice Aron Gunnarsson back, weve never replaced him. Not had any quality in the engine room since Whitts either. God bless him

You forgot to mention Ralls, he was diabolical last night and has been for a while

I think Joe is massively out of form.

It also hasn't helped that he has been played out of position and has forgotten the stuff he used to do. He could pass better than Gunnar but not in the same continent as Whitts, but tackle and work better than Whitts but not as good as Gunnar. He is not that player today.

He is not an ACM, we need to stop with the three stoppers, it doesn't work at best we only need two.

We need one genuine DCM someone comfortable on the ball who can move so that rules out Pack, so it's probably Vaulks. We have Wilson then Tomlin as the ACM and Joe's position should be then more advanced in the double pivot. Its a battle between him and Bacuna but they both seem massively out of form !

If we could get a mobile CM , in this window , That would be brilliant . But I dont think there is time , so we are where we are . This summer we definitely need 3 CM who can play !

I think Ralls had a good few years where he slotted into our midfield in the championship but certainly not the premier league. Unfortunately I think he’s dipped since then and he’s not even good enough for a high championship squad anymore either.

As for Vaulks and Bacuna, I don’t think they were ever good enough for a high Championship squad and they are the main reason why we cannot play more attractive football. Either Vaulks or Bacuna would be handy to keep on the bench like we did with Halford the last season we got promoted but ideally, restructuring the entire midfield needs to be a priority in the summer transfer window IMO.

The return of Tomlin will enhance the whole midfield imo. It will force the opposition midfield onto the back foot enabling more space.

Same thoughts, nearly all our centre mids are the same type. None are ball carrying midfielders. There all pretty static type, tackle and then give the ball to someone else but not much will happen if Ralls passes to Bacuna, or Bacuna to Pack

I agree with most of the posts regarding the midfield issue, and quite frankly its been a problem for years, and a problem in our own clubs transfer making. Bacuna's got another three years to run on his contract, Pack is a cart horse, no creativity, no ball controls, abysmal passing,,, loan signings have kept us going in the past, but this season, with all the cut backs to the squad, the bare bones are laid bare, and exposes certain players for what they are,,, simply not good enough. The midfield issues should have been addressed years ago, imo!

I admit I was one of the people who did think Bacuna being back would improve our midfield a lot. He did play well on our run in last season and helped us get to the playoffs. But I have to admit he has been awful in his two games back in midfield. I would have to say he was our worst player last night. Quite why he wasn't subsistuted earlier is beyond me paticularly when there was an obvious replacement like Wilson.

Have to say I agree Pack Ralls and Vaulks are all to similar Tomlin coming back can't come fast enough. One of the first things McCarty will have to do in is get in a quality midfield player in the close season but they don't come cheap so maybe it will have to be a youngster on loan from a premier league club.

Its been said for a while now on here that we do not need 3 of our CM playing at the same time. We looked much better last night when bacuna went off. No one really stood out last night, apart from Murphy, so it's a bit unfair to single out individuals and say they are shit when they were all poor. Which has been the case all season.

Ralls, Bacuna and vaulks are too similar. You've essentially got 3 players doing a lot running without influencing the game. We desperately need a creative CM with a bit of pace or at least have wilson sitting in front of them 2 of our CMs. Everything last night was hit and hope. No link up play at all.

Same folk on here spouting off but yet the experts put him team of the week.

Don't really like to criticise a new manager after one game but it does occur to me that in terms of the changes he made in the lineup nothing actually worked. Hoilett came in and had a poor game and the reintroduction of Flint at the back was bad he had a very poor game. We got a point despite the changes rather than because of them. Rather think if Harris had sent out that team we would be critising him.

Don't actually think Harris was picking the wrong team they were just not playing very well for him. Hope we start with Murphy and Wilson Saturday and no Flint.

You’re lucky you didn’t pay as I won’t again, the game was worse than anything I’ve seen under Harris or Warnock.
Zero quality.

Of course, it’s McCarthys first game with little time for training or getting to know the players so I’ll stick by him obviously and hope not just that results improve but the quality as well.

Hate probably a little strong.. but he is average, and struggles to deal with a pacy opposition midfield
