Supporters club meeting notes

Wed Jan 27, 2021 12:53 pm

Below are some notes taken from yesterday meeting between supporters groups, the media, and independent supporters with Cardiff City Football Club

Meeting with Club
25/01/2021
Q1: With the current financial situation where will Cardiff be at the end of the season?
Ans: With no Fan revenue stream, we will cope until the end of the season. We are losing £1.5m per month. VT just sent cheque for £3m
EFL loan of £8m applied for, will know result of application in 7-10days
Q2: What was rationale for appointment of Mick McCarthy
Ans: It was abundantly clear that after 6 straight defeats Neil Harris could not remain in post, it was a heated debate amongst the directors and the decision was made.
Mick McCarthy appointment is short term, 6 months, this allows the club to see where it is going and decide what type of manager we require.
Q3: Is the Academy and the future of David Hughes affected by the dismissal of N Harris
Ans: No David remains in post and there has been a change of recruitment, P McCartney will now only look for the youngster’s 9-14yrs old and another person has been appointed to look at older youths. Mick McCarthy has already given in names of youngsters he believes Cardiff require
Q4: Where or what is the strategy of CCFC
Ans: No strategy yet, this is what the next ¾ months will show us as a club where and what we need to be. It will take time and results to look at the strategy moving forward. N Harris was the younger modern manager who promised flowing football and younger players, this failed. We lost a lot of games, we brought some youngster’s through but still the current average age of the 1st team is 27.7 yrs old
Q5: Why have we not got a director of football?
Ans: We have a board and a transfer committee looking at all aspects of the club, this includes the team manager, Ken, Mehmet and Steve Borley
Q6: Lack of Fan Engagement
Ans: The club’s philosophy is to engage with fans on many matters, Dibs said the flags he brought down were not visible, Wayne Nash said they were behind the Sponsors flags which had to be prominent. Dibs said he had collected the flags back from the stadium, asked if fans pictures could go down there and Mehmet asked this be taken offline and Wayne and Dibs to discuss this further. KJ said that there was a lot of dialogue between Adam, Wayne, the Supporters and Disabled club over the past several months.
Q7: A repeat question about Mick McCarthy, however Mehmet was said this had already been covered.
Q8: Bringing the age of the 1st team down should be a priority and the Mick McCarthy having funds to strengthen the midfield?
Ans: This was part of N Harris job, going forward M McCarthy wants to assess squad before looking outside for new players, the transfer committee will meet with him once he has some names / positions. There is money for more investment into squad.

Q9: Can you clarify VT is in this for the long term, especially with the impact of Covid 19 globally
Ans: Mehmet said he was sick and tired of answering this question year on year, said he had turned down several offers for CCFC, one especially good offer but still turned it down, this must state his commitment as well as over £210m investment into the club
Q10: Due to the pandemic is it clear that we cannot be debt free as VT said we would be?
Ans: Mehmet said VT will address this at a later date.
Q11: What is happening with the 21/22 season tickets, as many clubs such as Swansea have already released their prices with £99 Adult prices.
Ans: We are looking at this within the next month or two and will liaise with the Supporters on this.
Q12: What is happening with plans for the investment into the Academy?
Ans: This is going ahead, talks with the Council and Cardiff University for the planned Llanrumney venture are still active.
Q13: Are we moving away from the ADIDAS deal?
Ans: We are talking with Adidas and five other companies for the clothing deal that expires this year.
Q14: With Welsh Government giving WRU a substantial amount of money are CCFC getting anything from Welsh Government?
Ans: No we are not expecting any monies from WAG, just part of the EFL Championship loan. Club are losing £1.5m per month.
Media Questions:
Q15: 2 yrs on from Sala, where are we and how are the other legal cases going?
Still awaiting information from various parties, some who are not responding, CCFC doing everything to get this sorted out as quickly as possible
The new Trust for Sala will be up and running very shortly and VT has made a contribution to that
A lot of time was spent on solicitors answers on this.
This went into the 3 legal court cases against CCFC:
A- Sam Hamman £15m- Life President complications
B- Michael Isaacs £10m – 2% of value of club
C- Sala Case £17m -
If CCFC were to lose the Sala case alone the club would go bankrupt.
Closing the meeting Mehmet thanked everyone and asked everyone to get behind the players and support Mick McCarthy.

Think this was said in frustration at the questioning! Because it was clearly stated in clubs financial report earlier in season that the money was put aside for sala along with other things! But upto individuals to take it how they want..... personally take it with pinch salt but thats me.
