I was shocked no one discussed this?

The CCFC Committee are planning and looking to have a Cardiff City B team and put it in a league.

Everyone is too busy arguing over Tan's ownership of the club.

Assuming it's the Welsh League system they want them to join?

Don't think there's any precedent is there? Could it be done?

no ..can only enter a team in one national league... its also the reason we have not been in the Welsh cup since 1993..

We played in the Welsh League Cup against Taffs Well earlier this season. Are the rules different for the WC and WLC? Because if not maybe there’s been a change in the rules and our B team can enter the Welsh system.

im not sure what the get around is regarding the lge cup mate...but there is no European qualification through it so maybe it is that ? . instead i think the winners get into a Scottish cup competition which also has no European place up for grabs..... our under 18s also take part in the Welsh youth cup..... but to my knowledge there have been no rule changes... re being allowed to participate in 2 national leagues, it also effects refs.... no welsh referees in England anymore , i think the last was in the 90s....

There were plans to form a league to allow championship and premiership clubs to have B teams as alternative to under 23 teams so allowing youngsters to play against more experienced players.... at moment only experience they get is in efl cup against div 1 or div 2 teams but only couple clubs enter it.... something like old combination league of the 80s for reserve sides

One of the things muted was no promotion for them if they'd been allowed in lower division... it's all about competitive games for youngsters! But like a lot if ideas probably wont get off ground.

OK so this is probably a stupid question but is there anything to stop us having another side in the English pyramid if we can't have one in the Welsh league? A city B side should be able to get up to conference level reasonably quickly (i'd hope) at that point gets a lot harder - Conference is essentially a fifth division these days, some 'big' sides in there.

Surely though if it was possible a lot of bigger clubs than us would have done it? Must be something I'm missing...

Like all teams wanting to enter English football you have to go through procedures and a committee? and I'm sure you find there is no provision for any club to have two teams under the FA umbrella. Like I says if such a thing is done the proviso was no promotion.... of course there is precedence in Spain......Madrid and Barca have b teams within their league system

This is more likely to be Tan/city taking ownership of a Welsh Premier league/Welsh league 2 side and loaning them the maximum number of players and also using it to develop other players.

Could be clubs like Barry Town, Merthyr (and moving them to Welsh League) or Pontypridd Town

Keep the U23 and allow just 3 players at a time over that age in each team .

Cheers Allen - I figure there must be a ruling in there somewhere that doesn't allow it, but you're absolutely right it was the Spanish sides having B sides in the league that got me thinking about it alongside the idea of us having a B side in a league team somewhere. Just wondering where the hell that B team will be playing. Got the old noggin' joggin'...
