' Josh Murphy '

Cardiff are ready to kill all links with a move away for the winger, a bid was made for the winger before McCarthy was appointed, but it was not even a respectful one, so with McCarthy's appointment seen as a massive boost for the talented speedster.

McCarthy's man management skills are well documented and it is a player like Murphy who will only benefit from that.

The club's official stance is that they would not like any more players to leave before the end of the transfer window, if they can help it.

If Murphy stays and McCarthy can eke some sort of consistency out of him, then everybody is set to benefit.

Any idea what kind of offer it was Annis? Had a feeling Mm wouldnt want him to go,not just yet anyway!
Lets hope he can get a tune from him,as when he plays to his abilities, he is a very good player, lets hope mick can sort the mentality side of his game out?

Yes Paul, it was the £1mill that i put out that we had had an offer on a player.
City want at least £5mill back and i can totally understand that.

If McCarthy gets the best out of Murphy then he will be worth that in my opinion.

For me it was way to much £11mill, but its easy in hindsight.

He his worth millions and as the talent to prove it unfortunately the style and lack of consistency of games is going to lose money until a club gets the best of out of him - hopefully all the players will start to improve throughout the team and all look start to play differently as a team once MM settles in - he as a big task ahead won’t happen over night but finders crossed sooner than later there is enough games still thankfully: IMO

If the bid for him was £1m Josh needs to look at that and be embarrassed.

What annoys me is for me his best game for us was vs. Bournemouth at home in the Prem, I thought he was outstanding and gave Clyne a torrid time in and out of possession.

However, besides that game and maybe one or two others, he looks like a player out of sync with the rest of the team. For me, he is a kick and run right winger, not a fancy inverted winger/forward. Get him out as wide as poss, I think being on the right would also help him more defensively as he would naturally take the ball out of dangerous areas rather than losing the ball when taking defenders on centrally... Just my thoughts anyway.

Let's hope that Mick can get the best out of him.

It was good to see Murphy smiling during the video the club posted of training.

We should never have spent £11m on him, his value at the time was around £6m. Norwich didn't need to sell.

I doubt we would get more than £3m for him now.

And we were accused of making a derisory bid!! 1m is a piss take.unless its for a season loan or something!
I agree 11m was probably double his worth at the time we bought him, norwich must have thought Christmas had come early for them!!

I think he suffers on the mentality side personally, didnt someone post here,he was homesick or something?

As an uncle of identical twins x 2,I do know that when they attended different colleges, they suffered badly, struggling away from each other,so could be the case with murph? Lets hope the arm around the shoulder style from MM helps.

When he is on form he can be worth 11 million he has played some great games for us but he lacks confidence I think as been said already you do not lose skill so he needs MM try and get the best out of him because he could be one of the best players in this league

Any bid for him would’ve been respectful because he’s been shite this season and on big wages so the club should be grateful someone was willing to take him. Hopefully Mick sorts him out.

Sorry don’t see the fuss on Josh. Since he has come he has had less than 5 games over 6/10. He lacks intensity- Bellamy was here a season or 2 and showed what a player can achieve. Unless he changes ( which I have my doubts) I would get rid.

and how much would a 24 year old Bellamy cost today ?

He will end up going for nothing. What we paid for him is irrelevant now.

if he performs well he is either worth something or has earned a new contract surely ?

If. If Glatzel scores ten goals between now and May he might be worth a fifth of what we paid for him. That's not going to happen either.

Glad he's staying; I can see a 'better' Josh Murphy emerging now we have a manager in place that knows both how to handle and cajole 'confidence' players

Some knew a bid had gone in for one of our midfielders/wingers for an apparent £2 - 3m (revised by Forever Blue to £1m) but thought it would likely be Joe Ralls rather than Josh Murphy

At that price, it's better to keep until the summer at least and let Mick McCarthy conjure up some Murphy magic...

From the training video someone posted on here looks like mick was trying to build Murphy up. After he scored going over to him and praising him. Needs confidence and he can be brilliant at this level. However doesn’t track back enough for some managers. How many last chance saloons has he had though!

Josh needs to be playing on a regular basis from the start, it’s no good bringing him on for the last 6 minutes or so.
You watch how MM man manages him and builds his confidence. Can’t wait to see the real Josh Murphy. :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Actually the last couple of times he has played he has looked reasonably good. Thought in one match Harris took him off when he looked our best player. If McCarthy could get the best out of him and its a massive IF it could make a big difference to our season.

the last twice Harris started him he was taken off being nowhere near our worse performer and as for coming on in the 85th minute... waw... lined up to fail ?

If glatzel scores 10 more goals, that would be 18 goals, yet you say will be worth only 1m? How much did we pay for madine?? How many games did he score in for us,a big fat 0! My guess is you dont rate him.lol.
