I went to this game. Toshack had left just under a year ago by now.

I took my missus to that game, it was on Match of the day as well as we were both near the top of the table.

Her last appearance at Ninian Park was the Leeds game in the FA Cup in 1972 when we lost 2-0 she did'nt enjoy that game

I checked last season and calculated that I had only missed about 10 home league games in the 48 seasons I have been a City fan. A snowstorm on the attempted journey from Cambridge , where I lived at the time , was one excuse I recall.Also a bout of pneumonia and pleuresy wrote off another couple of attendances some years ago (feeble excuse I know!!). Plus I think that 2 of my 3 daughters had the audacity to be born on the day of a home game.

You should have wound forward to this Saturday`s game to catch me out as I won`t be there . Its my middle daughter`s graduation ceremony in London. Cue the calls of "part-time" supporter!!

And I am proud. 2nd of my 3 daughters to graduate , and this one got a first.They must follow their father for intelligence - and if I ever find out who he is , I will have a word with him 3rd daughter didn`t stay on for A levels so won`t follow suit , but works for her eldest sister`s business .

Will now have to wait for the next generation , but will be some wait as my granddaughter is only 3 months old.

Thats right. Toshacks last game for City was an away win at QPR, on the 7th of November 1970, Phillips scoring the City goal. We ended the season third, just missing out on promotion to the old first division [only top two promoted in those days]. After that season, City went on a steady decline. I suppose, it could be argued, it would be similar to selling Chops or Bothroyd this comming November, with the current team in the top two.

BIT envious you have the memories from way back then - but lets hope this season will create some great times for the younger ones coming thru

They were good times to watch the city, but this time we have a team to go the next step.
