Only kept 5 clean sheets all season, starting to leak goals every game, this is going to be our downfall, were scoring goals but we need to stop conceding so many.

We need at least 1 new centre back.

If that figure is correct its a joke ! I read in newspaper on weekend that Adam Johnson (who I consider to be one of the best players in the division) is on £2,500 a week at Boro ! I know they are different positions but come on ! Hudson is one of the slowest defenders I have ever seen and don't get me started on Marshall !

Anyone who knows anything about fooball ,know when building a team you MUST! start at the back.
This defense problem has been with us since last season, When Bellers and Jay & Chops was putting goals in right left and centre, we were throwing away the games at the back. And to be fair the only new faces we brought in is Turner and Taylor.
I think Naylor has had a new injection of get up and go and looked really good last time he was given a run out for us.
But I like Hudson and he never afraid of putting his body on the line to keep a clean sheet. But its his pace that lets him down, but if you look close ,so do Turner. He try to run down a few players that got away from him and you can see that he really struggles hard to play catch up. But again he is so solid and cleans up nearly everything at the back. I would love to see another 2 at the back with the speed and pace of Super Kev.
Even when we go 2 up I never feel easy about it, cos we have given away good leads too easy in the past. But one thing we do ,do now ! that if we go behined we fight like hell to get back on line.

We've kept 9 clean sheets in the league and two clean sheets (Blackburn most notable) in the cup. Thats 11

By the way Southampton have leaked 28 goals we've only leaked 27

Best in the league is West Ham and middlesborough on 23.

I think our defense is much better than last season and getting better. If you take Middlesborough result out of the equation we had 4 goals conceeded in our last 10 games. Give the guys a break they are clearly improving, and we're hard to beat only 4 loses this season top of the table on that front with Middlesborough.

As for Hudson's wages far too much in my opinion but that's hardly his fault, if he was on half that we would be happy?

Is that Hudson or the 14K - making such broad comments is not helpful.
Hudson is part of a unit which has been improved with the addition of Turner and the stats quoted above and our league position suggests he and our defence are not a joke. As for his wages you have to look at this in the context of the last couple of seasons and some of the 'superstars' we had and the wages they were on - not his fault.
Yes he is short of some pace but as are a lot of CD at this level where physicality is more important than sheer pace - otherwise they would be playing in the Prem.

Can our defence be improved of course it can but the same can be said for our midfield, goalkeeper and strikeforce. As for replacing Loovens and Johnson they were/are very good players but we have had our best league positions since they have left and we have to move on.
