I was just told:

Thu Jan 21, 2021 6:58 pm

Tan only after last nights result finally turned against Harris.

Tan was massively behind Harris until last night finally triggered him to sack him after speaking to Dalman and Choo once again.

Also apparently Tan is thinking of just bringing in a temporary manager for the rest of this season that he feels will virtually guaranty our safety and then take it from there.

The Committee have 100% not decided on anyone yet.

So is it 6 CEO'S & 11 Managers in 11 years under Tan.

Wez, for a few months I would as well :thumbright:

Re: I was just told:

If it's short term, the idea of Mick McCarthy sort of makes sense.

As does Bowen.

Neither would be right for the long term.

Re: I was just told:

Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:05 pm

How about David Wagner?

Re: I was just told:

Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:06 pm

Any half decent manager should quite easily keep this squad up. We don't need to bring in a defensive manager to do that.

Re: I was just told:

Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:15 pm

David Wagner??
Craig Bellamy??

Fits the bill if its only a temp job then why not.

Name the 11 managers ?

Its 6 permanent signed managers

Dave Jones was already here so Tan had no choice
Kerslake was temporary for 6 days
Gabbidon and Young were temporary joint managers for 3 weeks

SIX managers have been signed in 11 years . So he gives managers on average nearly 2 years

Two of them got promotion
One got to the play offs
One is now managing one of the biggest clubs in the world
Two were stop gaps

Counting them like is just trying to make our owner look bad when in reality they have actually mainly chosen well and given them loads of time and chances

Yep, 2 years is more than the average for a manager theses days

Re: I was just told:

Caretaker would be perfect....

Lets spend 3 months finding the next guy. Even better find a DoF to find the next head coach.

Thomas

I think you’ve just named them all thank you and DJ, Tan was happy to keep and sacked him as he usually does.

Great managers Slade, Trollope, Ole and Harris were.

Costly all being paid off .

And which ever way you try to make it, it’s still 11 under Tan and look where we are now today, higher debt and lower in the League then when Tan arrived and the Despicable rebrand never to be forgotten.

Thomas your last paragraph is spot on. Even one of the stop-gaps (Slade) stabilised the club at a time when it would have been very easy to go into freefall.

That's fine but for what reason do you count them ?

But Jones was a manager Tan did not sign .

3 of them were not proper managers they were just asked to look after the team temporarily whilst we found a replacement. They were never hired as managers. What would you have said if they did nothing and let the players chose ? Would we have had 30 managers then under tan ?

Re: I was just told:

Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:36 pm

To be honest, up until last night I still had hope Harris would turn it around.

Mozza and Moore back.
A proper RB in the team,
there could be no reason we'd fail!

But fail we did.
Not through lack of ability, but poor tactics and organisation.

I finally stepped on the Harris out side at full time last night.

We know you don't like Tan....fair enough. But to count stand in/temporary/stop gap managers just to make him look bad is unfair to say the least. Could have used stronger adjectives but you're the boss

For me, Bellamy as team manager with an older person as general manager or director of football (to help Bellamy) such as McCarthy, Pulis etc.

So as an alternative narrative to tan being awful to work fir as a manager ... could it be argued he backs them with signings and gives them time to turn things around?

The stats show what you want to see like normal

You can say he's had 11 managers in charge and it looks bad

Or you could say the fact he's only actually hired 6 permanent managers in 11 years and gives a average of around 2 years each

You can say he's spent Over £200 million spent on signings in 11 years OR say he's only spent half of what the incomings have been and wasted the rest

Stats and figures depend on your opinion of a subject and what you want to look for

not really , Harris should have been put out of his misery weeks ago... he has just sounded more and more confused and desperate... while performances got no better... probably cost us any realistic chance of the play offs and in so doing will put whoever now comes in under enormous pressure from some to deliver whats a very very tall order...

Re: I was just told:

Thu Jan 21, 2021 8:27 pm

I never liked Harris so I’m glad he’s finally gone (he was given plenty of rope, but hung himself with it in the end).

A temp for the rest of the season sounds good, but use the time wisely to look for a genuine long-term prospect who can deliver.

To pick up on a comment about Slade, looking back he was quite a safe pair of hands in getting the finances on an even keel, but had to go when the time was right.

Let’s see who fancies a challenge then for the rest of ‘21

Re: I was just told:

Thu Jan 21, 2021 8:28 pm

Continue the current ethic. Bring down the average age of players and have Eddie Howe @ the helm. Call me nieve but we could be a massive club with the right steering IMO. :bluescarf: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluescarf:

Just what Sheffield Wednesday thought until their 1 win in 10 games followed.

Please let it NOT be Pulis.
