This does not make for good reading

Bottom of the leauge on form, and 9 points off the third from bottom Rotherham who have two games in hand. If we do not start winning we will soon be in the bottom three.
On a positive note there are six teams below us (at this moment) :banghead:

The haunt of relegation is a stark reality.
At the moment City don’t look capable of earning a point let alone the 20 odd probably needed to survive. 50 is the usual safety net.
The players are shot, the manager can’t get the best out of them: ergo it’s necessary and makes sense to get in someone new to energise the players.
Plus now is the right time - give the new manager some time to get in some competent midfield players - ones who can do the basics like passing forwards.

Something definitely needs to be done !
Harris hasn't got the answer thats for sure.
He is a little out of his depth, the 4 wins on the trot , just papered over the cracks . Time for him to go , get somebody in with a little knowledge of tactics and how to alter games .
Not Harris who randomly chucks people on and hopes for the best .

At the end of the day it's all about the players. We have a patchwork squad with no discernible theme, but the bringing in of Wilson and not replacing Tomlin has made a weak team a lot worse.
The players look shot mentally. They know they're not good enough, they aren't stupid, and whilst Harris is only part of the problem, I do think we need to change manager if only for a fresh approach and maybe a bounce-back for a couple of games - it's looking like we'll need every point we can get in the next couple of months..

Wilson should be more than capable of replacing Tomlin although not in a like for like way. He has been excellent everywhere is he has been - apart from here.

I suspect that is largely down to him either being stuck out on a wing having to defend and/or because we smash the ball over his head most of the time.

There are weaknesses in this squad for sure - but are teams like Luton, Preston, Bristol City, Barnsley etc really ahead of us in terms of squads? For me that firmly lays the blame at the door of the manager.

Nothing will happen today, don't think the club will sack someone on the 2 year anniversary of sala death.
Got no game till next Wednesday id think we will hear something over the weekend

Get someone in now then and give them a week before the next game. If the board are thinking about sacking there is not point delaying it. Get someone in before the transfer window shuts

What is the point of playing 2 up top if we don't get the ball to them. Bacuna is a liability at left back and at covering back and also too erratic with his passing as a midfielder. Ralls looks spent and Nelson looks out of his depth

Re: INTERESTING: CITY BOARD TALKS SUGGESTED

Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:41 am

Nelson is a League One defender at best! I have no idea where Bacuna's best position is.... Mark Harris isn't a Championship player, probably League Two for him, and Joe Ralls had Gunnaarsson to protect him a few seasons ago. He's exposed now and will probably move on in the summer.

Our non footballing board of directors is a major handicap.

They should employ a football consultant to urgently source a manager to keep us up and drastically change the squad post season.

The current squad is simply not good enough. Too many players incapable of the basics with none having the ability to make the step up.

Agreed.

If the squad wasn't good enough I would be the first to admit it and it would be a strong argument in defence of Harris.

However there is a core of players there that is easily good enough to be top 6.

Smithies, Morrison, Bennett, Wilson, Moore, Hoilett, Ng (early days but looked comfortable), Tomlin, Osei-Tutu would all have teams in Top 6 interested in them if they came up for sale.

Add to that Vaulks, Ralls, Bacuna, Pack as experienced operators at this level.

The simple fact is Harris has never settled on a system that gets the best out of our key players. His squad, on paper, is much stronger than the squads that Mackay and Warnock had to get us promoted. There can be no more excuses, Harris is out of his depth and does not command the respect of those players so a change has to happen quickly as we are now in freefall.

The susbsistution of Mark Harris for Watters was plain stupid. On his last loan spell at Wrexham Harris went 20 games without scoring in the national league I actually think he is quite skilful but no way is he a forward we subsistuted a genuine forward who had scored 16 goals in 19 games for Crawley for a forward who had he been playing in his place for Crawley might have scored one or two goals. Playing Harris is an excercise in flogging a dead horse.

Call Dave Jones now he would get this lazy bunch going !!! Personally think we would be regular premier league team if he had the money the other manager s have had to waste.

There's a good argument in there, Jules

DJ almost came back after Malky; the irony being that Vincent Tan liked him but (genuinely) didn't realise he'd sacked him in the first place...!

I’m still struggling to understand how we have turned Harry Wilson into a League One player. This guy should be playing with freedom and allowed to “FREE ROAM”

Hopefully once VT has had his breakfast in Malaysia, he will ring NH and tell him to DO ONE!

Barnsley are a decent side, and unfortunately we aren’t.

According to Reuters the average Championship Manager earns £878,000 per year (£73k per month) with the top earning £3.46m (£288k per month)

But the most important statistic is that VT could have paid anyone of us £30,000 (saving £850k) and got the same number of points as Harris!

Tan owns the club, lock stock and Barrell. So why does he need a board meeting?
