Agree; just another 'name' mentioned by someone else that has been picked up on by others...

Cook would be interesting:
- has worked on a budget
- played good football in the lower leagues
- several promotions
- knows how to get best out of kieffer Moore
- knows the lower leagues, bet can get a few bargains
- Wigan best side in championship 2nd half of last season with no money

Definitely not a bad shout and, importantly, realistic.
He won't cost much money and he's proven in the last he can do a good job with limited resources.
Those hoping for Eddie Howe are living on cloud cuckoo land.
My first choice would be Nigel Pearson, but again I find the possibility of that unlikely.
Cook is a good shout.

whoever you bring it its a gamble.... and you cant be a premier league manager unless someone gives you a premier league job... this fella has done relatively well at 3 or 4 clubs...

Why do we always set our sights so bloody low, saying things like so and so wont come here, someone else too expensive etc.
I think there will be a lot of managers who will want to come here. being a football manager you dont get too many opportunities to manage.
Paul Cook - from wiki his managerial career
"Paul Anthony Cook (born 22 February 1967) is an English professional football manager and former player.
Cook played as a central midfielder during a playing career that spanned 23 years from 1983 until 2006, notably in the Premier League for Coventry City. He also played in the Football League for Wigan Athletic, Norwich City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tranmere Rovers, Stockport County and Burnley.
Cook moved into management in 2006 with Southport and later Sligo Rovers. In February 2012, he returned to English management with Accrington before moving to Chesterfield in October of the same year. In May 2015, he was appointed manager of League Two outfit Portsmouth after a release clause was met in his Chesterfield contract, where he led a late promotion charge which climaxed on the last day of the season when the league title was sealed in dramatic fashion with a 6-1 victory over Cheltenham. In May 2017, he was appointed manager of League One club Wigan Athletic who he led to a league title and promotion into the Championship. After the club were relegated in the 2019–20 season, Cook resigned as Wigan manager in July 2020."Not sure there is much championship managerial experience there if Im being honest. 14 years in management and the most he has had is a season in the championship

look out

Yes but he has done brilliantly in those lower divisions. He won the leaguer two title with both Portsmouth and Chesterfield and the league one title with Wigan. Is there some unwritten rule that managers in leagues one and two will not be able to manage at championship level. He is generally considered to have done a good job at Wigan under the most difficult of circumstances and they were a championship club.
I would rather have a manager who has been far excellent in league one and two than someone ordinary at a higher level. Brian Clough and Bill Shankly started off in the lower divisions.

He’s a motivator not an arms folded wallflower.
