I've just heard Harris comments on the signing and he says he 'supports' the signing????
If it was Harris that wanted him them surely he wouldn't use a phrase like that? I can see the board saying " We've signed this guy for you"

All news signings come from the transfer committee, and the manager contributes to that.

Same as a lot of clubs.....but cannot say the players signed this season have been bad ... benkovic withstanding! If only we can get the right manager in to get best out of team we'll be laughing

He inherited the squad in the main, and his signings to date have done ok.
Perhaps he is being given a chance to build his own squad?keeping those he rates, and getying rid of those who he either doesnt rate,or cannot adapt their play to suit whats required? I mean we are shit passers for one!.

Defined a Harris signing, I reckon he’s got a good eye for a striker and we will have some player on our hands in watters

Cardiff City have made their first signing of the January transfer window with the capture of striker Max Watters from Crawley Town.
South Wales rivals Swansea City had long held an interest in signing the 21-year-old, however it is understood they were unwilling to meet Crawley's asking price.
However, the Bluebirds have now swooped in a deal which could potentially be worth up to £1m if a succession of add-on clauses are fulfilled.
Neil Harris had been keen on adding a striker to the ranks in this window, with right back and centre back other areas in which he would like to bolster, and has succeeded with the addition of Watters.

I thought the same thing after Harris’s interview yesterday. Not sure either way but he’s young, hungry and knows where the net is. I think most of the fee is performance based add ins so not a huge risk financially. I’m sure he’ll be used off the bench alongside keiffer when we’re chasing a goal. Maybe mark harris will go out on loan now

The player himself was quoted (on TV) as saying Neil Harris was one of the reasons he signed...

I very much doubt anybody on our board have even ever heard of the guy . To be fair most on this forum have not either. That would point to Harris identifying this guy as a prospect and the club deciding he was worth a gamble then telling Harris he had been signed.
So a joint decision in reality

Nonsense. We all watched the Leeds game and he was talked up big time.

Does it matter? Man c sighned a player even before a manager was employed! And there as been other players signed without manager knowing about it...... same as players have been sold without managers knowledge? Football is a funny old game.

He was a sub against Leeds
He was in Doncaster rovers reserve team less than 8 months ago being loaned out to non league. 6 months ago he was scraping around for trials before signing for Crawley after trialling for Mansfield against them.
He has had a little purple patch of goals in the last 5 months .
I would bet out of 1000 fans on this forum probably 10 would have even known his name before he was linked unless they happened to look at the league 2 top scorer list recently .
Plenty of players have been bigger up for trams but ended up doing nothing . Zahore springs to mind.
Hopefully this kid makes a impact but don't pretend he is someone everyone should know .

A bit of both, the board are making Harris choose players from League 1 and/or 2 and Harris is picking the best players from the leagues.
