I am not defending Neil Harris one bit as he should do the right thing and walk away but the players are escaping criticism and they have been shit all season and getting away with it

Harris picks the players and tactics. If people are playing badly change the tactics to improve their performance or change the players. Harris had done neither. The players have been poor this season but the majority of the blame is on Harris.

you can only blame the players to a certain extent. its pretty clear his tactics are to stand off the opposition, we never press, and then when we conced, he blames the players for not pressing. he plays our best ball winning midfielder at right back, when we have nelson who played right back for a few years. he plays wilson on the wing, when he's a number 10. he also plays 442, which doesnt work, and then changes it to a 4-2-3-1, but at that point its too late. when he does start with a 4-2-3-1. the "2", you need a ball winning midfielder, and a box to box midfielder, for it to work effectively, yet he plays pack there whom isnt mobile enough to be a ball winner or box to box. he plays hoilett as a winger, and all he does, time and time again is cut inside, he said he wanted to change the style of play, then signs a target man, but doesnt play to his strengths.

I have defended harris, but lost patience now! But the op is correct in part,i have said for a while, the players need to also take a long hard look in the mirror, does harris tell them to ping so many bad passes in a game? 70% and beliw successful pass rates are not acceptable in this division, does he tell them to look disinterested, lethargic, and sometimes clueless? Yes the buck stoos with the manager,as it should, but the players shouldnt get away with criticism either!!

I wonder if the Mendez situation and the timing of it has affected morale as we know some of these players are better than they are showing this season. With this, the untimely passing of Whitts, the departure of Warnock and the ongoing Sala situation, a lot has gone on in the background not just on the pitch. Harris certainly hasn't helped with some of his selections and tactics, but perhaps there is more to it behind the scenes than meets the eye...

Not being funny, but that's no excuse.

Most of them never played with Whitts.

None of them probably even met Sala.

Warnock left over a year ago.

The players are not exempt from criticism. They have rightly been criticised on here and on social media.

But the manager has to take responsibility. That's how it is in football, his job is to organise the team, motivate the team and get good results. He has failed in all respects this season.

I didn't say it was an excuse mate -my point was are the off field matters dragging things down behind the scenes and therefore being a contributory factor in the loss of form so many of them are showing. I just used the those as examples - there may be others which we don't know about. As I also said - Harris has to take a lot of the blame for tactics and selection, but it seems strange that players that showed so much fight and desire at the back end of last season are showing so little this time around.
