My three realistic targets for what it’s worth would be... 1 Nigel Pearson: experienced strong and won promotion before, can be difficult but tends to make an instant impact and might be able to salvage a playoff chase this year if done now. 2 Craig Bellamy: whether it went well or terribly would be fun for the rest of the season if nothing else. 3 paul cook: did a decent job at Wigan and not that expensive.

I’d be gutted if Cook goes there and takes them up. He’s my second, realistic, choice after Bellers (who the board might get all snowflake about). Cook has all that our board would be looking for: low budget, very decent at finding talent, plays good football, can operate on a shoestring, and in adversity etc etc
