Covid tests - a concern?

Am I concerned about testing? Yes. And rightly so. 1 in 50 people have Covid in the UK, so of course I’m worried. We do questionnaires every day and there’s no issues within the camp. But until you get test results you don’t know.

The PFA have stepped up and done a brilliant offer in coming forward and supporting rapid testing twice a week. They do tremendous work behind the scenes. I’m a massive supporter of them and I’m glad they’ve stepped up when others haven’t. We’re at the same place we were back in March. I don’t mind that. It’s a sense of realisation for everybody. We’re still working and still playing, people can still watch the games and maybe break up their days a bit. There’s going to be tough times in front of us for sure.

There are going to be a few games off this weekend and more the week after as cases rise .

Reports coming out is that VILLA will play youngsters tomorrow night v LIVERPOOL .
SOUTHAMPTON v SHREWSBURY - Came off .

Aston Villa are preparing to field a team of youngsters in Friday's FA Cup third-round tie at home to Liverpool after a "significant" Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

A final decision on whether the game will take place at all will be made on Friday.

Villa manager Dean Smith, his coaching staff and the rest of the club's first-team squad will not be involved after the outbreak forced the closure of the club's Bodymoor Heath training headquarters on Thursday.

The club is in discussions with the Football Association and want to fulfil the fixture (kick-off 19:45 GMT) but final confirmation on whether the tie is played is still on hold pending the results of further testing on the young players who are now being considered for selection.

Mark Delaney, Villa's under-23 coach, is scheduled to take charge in the absence of Smith and his backroom staff. He will be accompanied by a doctor, physiotherapist and kit staff.
