' CARDIFF CITY'S CURRENT SQUAD '

Wed Jan 06, 2021 1:28 pm

NEIL HARRIS CONTINUALLY STATED HIS SQUAD WAS TO BIG / THEN STATED HE NEEDED PLAYERS / THEN STATED HE WAS HAPPY WITH HIS BIG SQUAD???

Dalman shut him up and Harris now pays the consequences / a struggling team in the Championship.

Looking at that you have to say that any chance of a top 6 finish based on who we currently have fit and available is little more than a pipedream.

Also can't see managing that squad being terrifically appealing to any half decent manager if the club do decide to get rid of Harris.

David, Sadly right on both accounts.

So surely we need to build from the bottom up?

Harris out. New manager in. I’d still like to think that Eddie Howe would be a decent fit. He had a fairly good track record with younger players and youth teams.

That midfield is comical. I’d love to hear the stats on how many balls we lost by hoofing it up field and it dropping to the feet of opposition.

Let’s write this season off. Build from the back and have a crack next season.

Maybe focus on the FA Cup? Then again Forest will likely out play us Saturday.

When you lay it out like that it really shows up how weak our squad is whatever NH says about the size or quality. The playoffs are gone and I'm afraid we need to be worried about the other direction even if we are 10 points above the relegation places.

My biggest worry is if any offer comes in for players like Smithies, Morrison, Ralls or Moore they will be gone and as our owner clearly doesn't want to deal with NH this season is a write off.

I hope I'm wrong but I've got a really bad feeling about this season.

The writing is clearly on the wall, and I would be surprised if NH was still our manager this time next week,,, but god knows what's going on inside our club.
One thing that I do know though, we need some body in, asap, who knows what they are doing, in order to turn this season around. I can feel the trap door creaking beneath our club already!

Without some decent incomings it is difficult to see where our next win is coming from.

Charlton were relegated last season with 48 points. So our new target should be to reach 50.

Oh dear.

Get a new manager in and start building from the middle. CBs who are comfortable on the ball and a creative and pacey CM. Build the team around them. Get the ball rolling this transfer window and continue to build in the summer. The squad is at the point where a total rebuild is needed. Mad to think we were only relegated a season and a half ago. That promotion has been completed wasted

more concerning is that Hull finished bottom last season but had 30 points off their first 22 games which is a point more than we have...... not just that they had 39 points off 26 games.... and personally i have no faith in this fella stopping a similar collapse ....

Sadly totally agree with you Gary, Harris continually stated how big his squad was and full of quality, he then moaned after Sheff Wed home defeat and was soon silenced by Dalman.
It has come to haunt them and many of us fans could see how small the squad had become.

Now Harris is looking to bring in players like Sang and Brown, a lot of pressure for these players and had no chance of making it before this season.

It will be interesting to hear Thomas view as he backs what ever Dalman or Tan does.

Ciaron Brown recall clause explained

Benkovic's recall prompted calls for Ciaron Brown to be recalled from his loan up at Scottish top-tier side Livingston.

The Northern Ireland international was sent up there on his third loan spell with the club in order to gain some first-team experience.

With Cardiff short on options heading into this weekend's clash - Sean Morrison, Sol Bamba and Aden Flint are all out injured - it would have been an ideal opportunity for Brown to slot into the side.

However, Cardiff do not have a recall clause in Brown's contract until the end of this month, meaning they will be unable to bring him back before the Nottingham Forest FA Cup clash this weekend.

Harris squad is dwindling and is set to recall Ciaron Brown to add to his current squad as Harris has been told there will be no money in January available, so must call on every player he can and look to bring more loan players in.

Harris has already recalled Tom Sang from Cheltenham.

Its hard to believe this club was in the premier not so long ago....with a hectic schedule under way this season and a short close season..injuries were inevitable...but the vast experience of this board have cut it to bear minimum and are now reaping their rewards.
It will indeed be interesting to hear Thomasblue 's response

Exactly and we as fans saw this happening back in August.

Over to Thmasblue?

It is understood Sean Morrsion's ankle injury will keep him out of action this weekend and for the following league fixture against Norwich on January 16, with the hope being he can return for QPR later this month on January 20 at best.

Sol Bamba is currently sidelined with a back issue and will also be unavailable for the Forest encounter this Saturday.

Looks like Cunningham and Nelson then?

Assuming Cunningham is fit because he's also a bit of a sicknote.

If we lose anymore centre backs I'm guessing we'll be looking at Marlon Pack going there?

Has he ever played there before?
