Boss Mike Flynn wastes no time in revamping his high flying League Two squad. One in, more to follow. A few out - and looking to recapture Scott Twine on a permanent deal. Busy January at Rodney Parade.

Newport County have signed West Bromwich Albion striker Owen Windsor on loan for the rest of 2020-21.

Making a big effort to get promoted.long term the fact they haven't got their own ground could hinder their progress.

Plus the fact their fan base has never been able to sustain a club any higher than league 1.

can't see Swindon letting Scott Twine go he's been excellent for County this season, would of thought more chance of them recalling him.

“Bradley Webb, Saikou Janneh, Scott Twine and Aaron Lewis have gone back, so we’ve got some manoeuvring to do so that we can strengthen the squad.”
The hope is that the new recruits will have as big an impact in what will be a manic fixture list for the Exiles.
They host Brighton in the FA Cup on Sunday and are back in League Two action when Salford visit on January 16, the first of 26 fixtures in 16 weeks to the final day trip to Southend on May 8.
“We’ve got a busy schedule but the last time that we had that we almost went up, so I am not getting to disheartened by that,” said Flynn.
“I am just glad that it was two home games that were postponed and that we have been managing to get away games out of the way.”

Had one season in the old Division 2 in their entire history. Was pretty disastrous, had the joint record biggest defeat, 13-0 to Newcastle

They nearly got there in the early eighties but just fell short. I seem to remember they beat us at Somerton Park at Easter in front of around 16,000 (half City at least) and went above us. We managed to get up in the end- side with Bennett brothers, Hemmerman etc - and County faded.
They had a good side for a few years- John Aldridge and Tommy Tynon up front- but within five years had folded.

Yes, I was at that game! We were robbed, had a couple disallowed, but we went up in the end. County had a good side then.
