Sure to happen this week after the Christmas indoor superspreader figures hit the hospitals this week.
I can't see anything open until March, it's going to be tough but the vaccine is on its way, the government need to move heaven and earth to get it out asap, this is our only way out of this!
I won't be happy about it, but what can we do?
If we can keep our discipline and get on with it, one final push and things will get better!

I think Drakeford would have kept us lockdown for 9 to 12 weeks anyway!

I do think Drakeford will, at least, extend current guidelines until end of January.
However, I'm not sure the figures are telling us that Christmas was a "super spreader" event yet.
In fact, the figures per 100,000 in Cardiff are significantly lower than they were before Christmas, that may change over the next few days of course. But for a government that says they will be guided by the evidence they need to look carefully at the impact of the current restrictions before increasing them.

I haven't seen the figures yet, just logic tells me that many people indoors would have spread it significantly, but maybe people were on the whole sensible and with everything shut, it didn't increase, that would be a decent result?

Although infections in Wales per 100,000 now under 460 whereas before Christmas it over 600. Also only 1900 new cases which is also significantly down.
Early days but if that trajectory continues this week then it's an encouraging sign.

Not a proper lockdown unless construction stops, the Uk gov clueless, close sites for a month, that’s millions not travelling to various tiers and mixing,

Yes, I've just seen the welsh covid figures, that's surprised me and really pretty good, English figures going up though, I still think Boris will call one this week, and in Wales will extend?

Schools are tricky. I work in one and all precautions are made for kids and staff, the problem is you see parents dropping off their kids then congregate outside chatting away in groups. No sense.

As long as schools remain open the apex 11-17 spreaders will take the bug home this is not difficult people! Most teenagers will not get a sniff yet the parents and grandparents will drop like flies .Shutting down gyms, shops and pubs is f**k all and these morons know it it is a political grenade and these gutless twats will not call it.

Its becoming more obvious every week that the problem is schools , colleges and foreign travel not the pubs, restaurants and shops.
I cant see anything working other than a full 3 month lockdown with everything other than essential shops open.
After that no foreign Holidays this year to prevent it being brought back again.
Throw the kitchen sink at it and get rid of it quickly rather than dragging it out for years .
Whatever Boris announced it HAS to be a CLEAR message with massive fines for not complying . No grey areas , make it clear and straightforward.

As the prime minister takes further action in England, it is clear that the situation is worse than before the second lockdown began in early November.
Back then, on 5 November, the case rate was 247 cases per 100,000 people.
Now it’s more than double that with 519 cases per 100,000.
And looking at the speed of increases before the lockdown, the coronavirus rate has increased by 70% in the past two weeks, compared to 10% in the period running up to the November lockdown.
As ever, we must look at all sources of data, as case rates can also be influenced by mass testing.
Looking at hospital data, the situation is – again – more serious.
There are currently now on average 2,550 new coronavirus admissions every day; this is compared to 1,327 on 5 November.

It is through the roof 1300 plus deaths, almost 80,000 in total,
Almost 32,000 on hospitals, 1.1 million people infected last week, so it’s obviously going to get for the hospitals in the coming weeks.
