Cardiff City’s Neil Harris: I Can’t Afford Another Failure

"We wanted todays game to go ahead and get a win under our belts and put December behind us."

Defeats at Coventry City and Wycombe Wanderers when they were both propping up the table put the skids under the Bluebirds manager and he knows a fourth defeat in a row could of pushed him over the edge.


“We are expected to beat teams near the bottom of the league. We didn’t take Coventry or Wycombe for granted,” said Harris.

“It was a poor performance at Coventry, who were two off the bottom, and we gave away a bad goal. Then we gave away two cheap goals at bottom of the table Wycombe.

“If we want to be in the top six you have to win certain games and I would expect to beat teams in the bottom three. As a manager, if you don’t win matches you are always going to get questioned.

“The aim this weekend was to beat a team that is below us in the table. The longer we go without winning the tougher it gets to make the top six."

“We’ve lost three in a row and I didn't want it to become four, we could of put it behind us with a win today."

"Now we face Forest in the Cup where I will give a run out to a few others from our squad."

"Then we are playing the best side in the Championship Norwich, we have not got the squad and money Norwich have, but we will roll our sleeves up and give it our best."

Getting the excuses in early for the Norwich game I see. I honestly can't take much more of him!!

Harris is about to discover that he was getting paid to deliver results not excuses.
Same goes for the players.
You either want it or you dont lads - paid on performance needs to be introduced. As a player if you dont put in a shift - you dont a penny. If in doubt try working on a zero hours contract for a bit.

What is annoying is if we had beaten Coventry and Wycombe like we should have quite easily , a win today against Rotherham would have put us 5th .

Thats the difference between a good manager who knows how to send teams out to win against certain teams and a manager like Harris .

We are unbeaten in 2021.What more could you ask for ?

Harris must be relieved and hoping he can get some of the injured players back.
