“ Tonight / Callum Paterson “

Fri Jan 01, 2021 8:08 pm

F-T 1-0

Callum Paterson scores and gets the 3pts .

Paterson also scored in midweek v Boro.

Paterson was sold for £450,000 and he wanted to stay, beyond madness by the committee.
A player who gave 110% and a perfect Championship player for a championship club.

Harris and the CCFC board virtually gave him away, will come back to haunt us big time.

Agree we lost so much money getting rid of rubbish and we let go of Patterson for peanuts. People keep saying Murphy needs to play , I wish he went and we kept Callum.

Scored on Tues as well against Boro... Another one let go who wore his heart on his sleeve and played for the badge

Hes a decent player at this level but let's be honest he's not great. The amount of chances he used to miss and his headers going nowhere cost us points multiple times.

He is a solid workhorse at this level and gives 100% every game which we miss badly but in reality he's a bog standard championship utility player . To get promoted we needed better.

Good luck to him at Wednesday but he will never score 10 or more goals a season up front, he will stick around 5/7 most seasons not because of his ability as a striker but his insistence of busting a gut to get into the box.

If he was on the £25k plus reported
here then I can fully see why we got him off the wage bill

Paterson was an honest player that always gave 100% effort. We don't have too many of those in our squad!
Always likely to score a few vital goals throughout the season. Wish we still had him in our squad.

penny wise pound foolish as usual...and i think youll find that far from costing us points the points per games ratio when Patto played was better than most if not all the other players here... defenders never got to pick passes as they do now because he was on top of them..

We sold Paterson for less than a million yet the Jacks sold McBurnie for 20 million.

Nothing between the 2 in terms of ability both are championship level and both Scottish internationals, figure that one out.

The Paterson deal looks stupid now Moore is injured and the amount we sold him for was a joke. However I understood it at the time especially in the current financial climate with regards to wages and everything. However what I wouldn’t give for him now up front without Moore setting the tempo battling and nicking goals!

Paterson was actually sold for £450,000 and he wanted to stay, beyond madness by the committee.

I don’t believe if we had him we’d be any better probably worse of to be honest. We can’t keep players because of ifs and maybes.

Gave 100% for the badge...a lovable guy, with passion and love for the club. A sad loss to the Bluebirds. An amazing acquisition for the Owls...and now look....

450k - was that all we sold him for ?

FFS that 'committee' with it's deep footballing knowledge and wealth of experience is looking amateur at best - and totally inept at worse.

A player that would run and run, would always get you a few goals, would never give up - was a right pain in the @rse to the opposition - and weve given him away for free basically.

Dalman, Chew, Harris and whoever else is on the committee - youve screwed up there good and proper

Should of kept him and got shot of Glatzel. Its obvious he's never going to do much at Cardiff.

That decision alone his enough to sack all of the 'committee' , I would love to know the reason why we sold

A few more going out this year. Club have decided some of the stupid money these players are on is not acceptable.

Be better to reward them if we got promoted and if we came back down their wages would reflect that.

Patterson has scored 4 goals in 20 games for Sheff Wed this season .

His replacement here is on less money and has scored 8 in 18

Double the amount of goals in less games

Great decision by the club when you go by solid stats.

Patterson was likeable but if people are honest he's a hard working utility man not a 1st choice striker

Even Glatzel is pretty much matching his tally this season that says it all

Was he worth 27k a week ?
I'm sure he's on nowhere near that at Wednesday and is probably the reason he wanted to stay

He wanted to stay as he was happy here, we got his career back
On the road, it was not about just scoring goals, Paterson is not an out and out striker as you know.

Thomas you can keep sticking up for Tan and his committee but the facts sadly there.

After 11 yrs

First team worse off than when he arrived and worth less over all.

U23’s a disaster

U18’s doing awful

Debt higher than when Tan arrived after receiving nearly £400 mill after two promotions and all the revenue from merchandise and ticket sales and advertising.

Wasted £mills upon £mills on a despicable rebrand and due to that divided our fan base beyond and merchandise worst ever sales for Prem club and changing it all back cost beyond.

Lost court cases and had to settle big time with Langston twice , DJ, Riddler , Ole etc costing £mills

Now in another case over Sala fee.

6 CEO’S

10 managers and another one soon.

And Committee that No nothing about football and All live far away.

Patterson was signed as a defender - so who was his replacement that has scored 8 goals ?

As we all know Patterson has played in defence, in midfield up front and also just behind the main striker. Massive thrown on him, a disrupter of play and general pain for the opposition.

The facts are only what you want to see

Tge u23s have a average age of 19 because they moved most of the u18s up a grade early whilst at the same time either releasing/loaning out the more experienced players or bringing the better ones into the first team like Harris and Bagan. That type of move results in a poor season result wise before it gradually improves. Actually the under 18s in 2019 won the league for the first time but thats all forgotten now. Given that the u18s last year are all now up a grade the same applys for the new u18s who are all very young.

The first team is not worse off, we are in a similar position as we were before but with a squad that is worth a lot more money. We have achieved promotion twice in that time.
10 years ago Man utd were in the top 4 of the premier league. They have spent nearly a billion pound since and they have not moved.

The rebrand was a mistake which he was badly advised on at the time but he has more than made up for his one mistake at this club multiple times. Everybody deserves a second chance, there is not a single person on this board who is perfect.

Every court case he has entered would be in the best interests of Cardiff city. Why would he pay multi millions if there was a chance it was not correct and legal. He is well within his rights to ask the question whether he won or lost. Again everybody on here would do the same when it came down to it.

The Sala case will play out in the new year Nd we will see who is right or wrong

You cant say we've had 10 managers when you count David Kerslake, Danny Gabbidon and Scott Young who were temporary and Dave Jones who was already here. That leaves 6 permanent managers that have been appointed and 1 of them was only Slade who was only to clear a squad out.

Two of Tans appointments achieved promotion and another one got to the play offs so the boards record is actually not that bad.

The committee has over 25 year of top level football management between them and Tan alone is the 4th longest serving owner in the championship . I would say now they have a very good knowledge of the inner working of football.

They mY have recieved over £400million in the 10 years but have also spent over £200 of that on transfer fees. Add in the agent fees and 10 years of championship/premier league wages (£45million on premier league wages alone under Warnock) plus all the other day to day running costs of a football club and it doesnt go very far. Just smthrowing out a £400milloon figure without any context can make anybody look bad .

The facts are we are a very stable club under a very good owner

We currently have issues on the pitch but that happens to every club. Look at Arsenal at the moment .

So it proves the club didn't want him and his large wages.
They sold him rather than pay big wages for a very average player. Good business by the club
