NEIL HARRIS:"ROTHERERHAM GAME I WANT TO WIN/TAN SPOKE TO ME"

Fri Jan 01, 2021 11:19 am

Under-fire Cardiff City boss Neil Harris addresses his future again and reveals Vincent Tan talks ahead of 'huge' Rotherham game

The manager has addressed the mounting pressure which has come his way after four defeats in five matches

Neil Harris has branded this weekend's clash with Rotherham a "huge game" in his Cardiff City tenure as pressure mounts on the Bluebirds manager.

Harris has seen his side lose four of their last five games and sit in 15th place in the table, eight points adrift of the coveted play-off spots.

The most recent defeat came at the hands of the Championship's bottom-placed team, Wycombe Wanders, which stirred ire and frustration among large sections of the City fan base.

And with the Bluebirds heading into another clash with a team scrapping near the foot of the table, Harris believes this game is massive in the context of his future at the club.

NEIL HARRIS:

"I think it’s a huge game in my tenure at Cardiff City," Harris said. "I want to win the game. It’s a mid-way point of the season, it’s going to be after 23 games and you are going to want to look at the league table and realise you have work to do, but I always talk about momentum.

"We have lost three in a row and it’s the first time we’ve lost three in a row in a long time and I certainly don’t want to make it four.

"So it’s important we respond. It’s about the result, not the performance on Saturday."

Harris revealed he had spoken to the board following Tuesday's defeat at Adams Park and had been in conversation with owner Vincent Tan "only through message".

However he would not divulge the contents of that chat.

The manager accepted that Thursday's press conference had similarities with the one he undertook before the Luton Town game, when he was facing similar scrutiny.

He hopes that a win at Rotherham on the weekend ignites a run of consistency, which has been sorely lacking in this campaign.

"Pressure mounts again when you don’t win games of football.," he continued

"You guys know you can chuck stuff at me and I will try and answer - or ignore it!

"I understand the question and why you’re asking it. We want to be successful. We went on a four-game winning run to get us on the fringes of the play-offs again.

"We have now lost three in a row. We don’t want to be that yo-yo team, we want consistency, we have been craving that all season.

"As a manager if you don’t win games of football you will always be questioned and I accept that."

Surly NH is drinking in the last chance saloon, anything other than that a convincing victory v Rotherham, and it’s a taxi out of CCFC?

Earth to Neil Harris NO team in the last 17 years has made the playoffs having gained 32 points after 23 games, and that's IF we win tomorrow.

If we win tomorrow we will still need to win 15 of our remaining 23 games to get to 75 points the average required to make the playoffs. We don't need to look at the League table tomorrow Neil to know you have fucked it up, your are the weakest link and it should be good bye TODAY.

It should have been goodbye after the Wycombe defeat. Delay this action any longer and the consequences could be astronomical.

Rick, the prob is the board wont spend, Harris is cheap, accepts no money available, a yes man and a new manager will mean they have to spend.

Arris really needs to go now if you cannot motivate a team to beat the bottom club in poor form
and slipping down to 15th in the table its january and we are not in top 6

If the board don't get shot they loose all credability after there statment of top 6
But i ask myself are they really that bothered if on the other hand you are a supporter you feel it more when loosing
and judging by the forum after wycombe i don't think the owners and board feel the sense of loss.
Its just about the money
all this love of the club it's. a load of bull otherwise they would not be leaving us languishing mid table
and playing the worse football from a cardiff team for years.

You.." want to win the game"? No s**t Sherlock! Now I know why the board thought you were a good fit for the Job. When Harris was appointed, maybe all the other managerial applicants told you they wanted to lose games??

Over £20million spent on this squad in the two seasons since relegation from the premier league shows they will spend if they believe in the manager . It will be interesting to see what happens in January and will say a lot about the boards thoughts on Harris.

They definately backed him in the summer with the signings they allowed him. If they don't this window then it shows a problem somewhere

I think they have 4 choices

1. Sack Harris and give a new manager a few million to turn it around in January

2. Keep Harris and back him

3 Keep Harris and just run the season out as we are with minimal funds.

4. Sack Harris , give it temporarily to someone like Bamba until after the window and run the season out on a budget with a new manager looking towards next season

Two of those choices show the club anf board has ambition this season, the other two show they dont.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out

5....sack Harris because they think he is under performing
with the squad he has { which seems to be the opinion of most } and appoint someone they believe can do better without immediate investment...but a promise of investment in the summer if there is improvement..
