' Latest on Sol Bamba '

Wed Dec 30, 2020 8:17 pm

Sol Bamba was given permission by Cardiff to talk to Neil Warnock at Boro.

Looking likely Bamba will join Neil Warnock's Boro and their promotion push.

Bamba does not fit in Neil Harris plans.

Personally I think Bamba is a threat to Harris job.

Or Harris having to keep reducing the wages.

I don't think he's a threat to Harris it's just he said he wanted to play for one more season and he's not going to get any game time with Flint back in the squad.

Harris is going nowhere.

The removal of Bamba could see the removal of one or two others, Hoilett being one of them I would expect.

This could open the door for a loanee and that will be the best we can expect.

I have thought because of Sean Morrison’s injury Harris might be forced to keep Bamba.

I thought that too Annis but possibly deal has been done or Harris has been told that he must get the biggish wage out.

Harris bemoans the fact that we have no leaders and yet he is going to allow one of the best leaders that we have at the club leave. It would be a travesty to let him go especially with Morrison now injured and until yesterday Benkovic being nowhere near his plans (and he may well still go).

I would walk Harris out the door tomorrow and give Bamba the job.

Indeed; and here was talk of Benkovic being allowed to leave, too!

We need all the help we can get right now...! :(

So it is confirmed , Harris is here to continue cutting the wages, just like Slade.
Welcome to league 1 , as with Harris that is where we are heading.

I accept that after a game most of us talk complete tosh but this one is a beaut.

If Bamba was a threat to Harris then the club wouldn't allow Sol to talk to Boro, they'd have other plans.

A loan to the end of his playing contact would be interesting for both parties as it frees up salary and Sol is a leader. would there be a loan fee ?

We need to be building for 21/22 already and that's not Sol

That was always just rumour Chris.
Bamba no threat to Harris's job but a cost cutting exercise. To be fair to Sol he wants to play at his age and who can blame him?

I didn't believe it as anything other than 'paper talk' at any point, Paul. It just didn't make sense...

I feel for Sol, always one of my (if not the) favourites in aCity shirt and I honestly believe with a couple of games under his belt, he could do a job for us before stepping up to become an upbeat coach

He still has something to offer and (not for the first time) certain people have written him off with little or no regard for what he has actually done for this club in his time here...or the injury he suffered

I hope he stays but I wish him well, if he doesn't :ayatollah:

Didn’t bamba sign a new contract recently ? If so I can’t see him being on big money at 35 years old.

So..... Morrison injured, talk of Benko return in Jan to parent club, so what do we do? Allow Bamba to talk to another club?! It really beggars belief.

It could be that in Jan, not only do we have no cover at RB, but we have no cover at CH.

You just couldn't make it up. The clowns in the boardroom staying silent whilst slowly killing all hope of success now and in the future.

It is not so much cover for CH but we will only have one CH at the club as it looks like bentovic is on his way back to Leicester, that would mean we would need two center half's and a right back, unless Harris thinks that Flint is going to be fit and not on his way back to SW. :banghead:

Harris will be leaving within 2 weeks. Club clearing the decks for incoming Manager.

All the players with big contracts ending this season will be going either this window or in the summer.

Only positions safe are the keepers!

Personally I'm not that bothered about this.

He was brilliant for us in the promotion season under Warnock, but only features as a cameo from the bench these days.

Reportedly on good money as well so makes sense for him to go.

I expect he wants to play football more regularly as well, and he has a good working relationship with Neil Warnock.

I never understood him being linked with the managerial job for us. He has zero experience.

After we let Ole go, many said it was due to the fact he only had limited experience as manager - so I don't really see why people were so keen to see an unexperienced Bamba take the job.

If he goes to Boro, then good luck to him :thumbright:

As has been said above, we will probably bring in a loan player or someone on the cheap to replace him a squad player.

I'm sure an injury to mozza was not planned! As mentioned above, the benkovic talk was/is rumours, although as a fan of city, nothing surprises me these days, and that's the truth.
I loved Bamba in his time with us,and would like tips see him stay on,as maybe a number two,to a more experienced manager? But if he wants to go,then he goes with my blessing, has been a great servant to us,playing one last season,he has to go where he gets more game time than he is getting here? :old: :bluebird:

Feel for Bamba, he is a fantastic player for us and all he is doing is sitting on the bench. Would love him to play for us 1 last time before he leaves, maybe in the Cup against Forest.

Bamba has been a great bluebird for us throughout his time and we will never forget his great ability on the pitch for us during the promotion seasons with Warnock.

Agree with most of this.
Certainly excellent for us in promotion season and I’ll never ever forget the turning and saluting to us all after he scored at Southampton.
If he’s in negotiations to go, there’s no way it would be in anyone’s interests for him to play v forest

Thought he was going to be involved with youngsters and future mamager thats blown that thought out the window
I wish 1 of our board members would enligten us about where we are going apart from lower down the division
The only one that should be leaving in jan should be
"Arris"

Bamba's better that Nelson. Considerably. He's the only one - including Morrison - who organizes, cajoles, shouts, sees dangererous situations developing. He can also bring the ball out of defence which neither Nelson or Morrison can do. Great shame if he goes. I think he should be playing.

Agree with that; sadly seems the manager has his favourites and is reluctant to adjust or admit he may have it wrong...

To all of us supporting Sol Bamba, remember his awful performance at QPR when we lost 6-0.

Yes because it was all Sol's fault.

I tend to remember the awful performance of the whole team including the manager regarding that particular game.

Or is my memory that poor that the other ten players were great and were let down by Sol Bamba?

This write up sums up my own feelings, plus gives us the opportunity to lower the age of the squad, which I’m led to believe is the oldest in the Championship. As an add on, it explains the distinct lack of pace in our team.

I loved the sentiment of the salute, but wished he’d opted for a British style salute, over an American one.

Great servant to the club, but all good things come to an end.
