Not really. Malky and Ole bought badly.
NW too.
It’s not about the players only. It’s about building a team capable of a) surviving in the premier league b) having a style of football that bridges the gap. Ideally you want both.
Both times we were promoted we didn’t accomplish either.
NW almost did. We were close to survival and Sala could have been the missing piece. Sadly we will never know. But he didn’t have funds to help.
Malky had funds. Not only to build a side but also to build a style that would help us push on. He had the money to. Sadly he wasn’t a good enough coach/manager to do it.
Norwich have built a style that although they didn’t stay up they come back to the championship and are light years ahead. If they go up back up (when) they will be a lot better prepared.
Imagine if Brentford had kept all the players they have had to sell?

Shows a real lack of ambition ...lots of mates who support other clubs always say we r a Premier league size club interns of ground and support.
Always thought we were a similar size to Everton type of club as opposed to being below the Watford’s etc...

The difference between us and other teams promoted and relegated is we did not have a team capable of staying in premier league or was a team quickly put together that was as quickly disembled on relegation! Your right about building a team we have not done it once and this one will have same problem as previous ones ? Said before club needs a strategic plan of 3yrs to build a side capable iof promotion and have chance stay there this side like others got no chance of staying in premier league so cycle will continue.
And hes not 1st and certainly not last to make the comments he as..

He is right. The teams who came down had their teams pretty much left in tact from their relegation. Watford and Bournemouth had been premier league for a while.
However, Norwich had one season in the premier league. True that they have largely kept their squad but he’s not been there that long. The reason they are so good is simply excellent management. He has put together a class side.
Seems weird that 2.5 years ago we were buying one of Norwich’s best performers in Murphy.

You’re right, I can’t see anywhere where Harris has said the clubs mentioned are ‘bigger’ and us.
He’s saying we can’t compare with Norwich, Watford and Bournemouth with regards to being able to compete with their budgets and squads.
People read what they want half the time.

I can’t believe he made that statement we can’t compete with them if that’s the way he feels why doesn’t he resign we where bigger than Brentford Watford Bournemouth Norwich when we where shite in the bad old days Cardiff city fans always believe we can beat anybody on our day if we didn’t believe it why would we bother turning up
