So what stations are you missing? Have you tried manual tuning? Did you have terrestrial before? Because if not mistaken terrestrial signal was turned off years ago

Another thing to do is go online check what tv channels you can receive in your area ? That may tell you a lot and it may not be your tv

Aerial or via sky dish?

Re: O/T tubing in Samsung TV

Wed Dec 23, 2020 7:57 pm

You need to set the region of tv when tuning ie west country , wales etc.
Without an outdoor aerial you will struggle to pick up a large selection of channels no matter what tv you have.

That’s what we’ve been thinking mate. Gonna get an aerial for the outside in a few weeks, get a TV set up ready and get the tv aerial bloke to tune the bloody thing in for us

Andrew, if you are going to change, have a look at John Lewis deals; I bought a 4K Sony TV one from them recently and can't fault either the quality of the TV and/or the service and guarantee received

Can't comment on the tuning aspect of what you have but it seems some (Big Hill Blue and one or two others clearly excepted) will regardless of lack of knowledge in the subject area; now there's a first on here, eh? ;)

If you haven’t got an aerial that’s the problem surely ? How else will you pick up a signal or am I missing something?

Did you plug the TV into your aerial socket?

I’ll back this.

Sony 5 year warranty. Have used it twice since 2016. Both times after a normal warranty would have expired.

I think both Richer Sounds and John Lewis do a 6 year warranty these days. Well worth factoring in to the overall cost.
Back to the OPs issue- how did you manage to return the tv when the problem wasn't with the tv?

Yes I have an aerial. Got a ‘one for all’ aerial and plugged it in bank of tv. I’ve since learned that for where I live, I need one in attic / on side of house to pick up any channels as with the small one it only picked up around 6 types of bbc channel and the reception was awful.
Anyway, all returned now. Aerial installation booked for after Xmas
