Cardiff City target loan move for Leeds United striker amid Bournemouth and Sheffield Wednesday interest

The former Arsenal and Sunderland academy prospect is highly rated at Leeds and Cardiff City are among several clubs keen

Sam Greenwood of Leeds United is a target for Cardiff City

Cardiff City are keen on taking highly-rated Leeds United striker Sam Greenwood on loan in January.

The Bluebirds are one of several Championship sides weighing up a potential move for the former Sunderland prospect, with Neil Harris looking to further bolster his forward options in light of several injury concerns.

Star striker Kieffer Moore is expected to be sidelined until at least the new year, while Harris had already admitted the long-term absence of Isaac Vassell and Lee Tomlin were likely to "affect the thinking of the football club come January".

Greenwood moved to Elland Road from Arsenal in the summer, and has emerged as one of the club's brightest young prospects, netting six goals in seven games for the under-23s.

As things stand, City are yet to firm up their interest, and insiders in the capital have played down the possibility of a move.

However, should they wish to explore the possibility further, they are understood to be well placed, with the Cardiff City Stadium seen as a potentially good fit for the player's development.

Harris knows his hands are tied regarding permanent moves involving money and his best options are more loan players.

Isn't he only 18? He must be decent enough I suppose, bit of a kick in the teeth for young Harris though? :old: :bluebird:

Yes, probably would be disappointing for Harris but if this guy is a prospective top level Prem player he's probably better quality even though I think Harris will probably make it as a Championship player.

I've long thought that good quality Premiership loans are the way to go for us. It's proved to be the difference for so many clubs in getting out of this division in the past. Done the right way it can be good for both us and the players.

We are looking at bringing in a "Striker"? That's a funny way to spell "Right back"

Honestly how many transfer windows will go by where we are crying out for a RB

Presumably as a replacement for Mark Harris. I can see why. Is Harris really a striker? he hardly scored at all at Port Vale and Newport and at Wrexham he scored 3 in his first four game but none at all in his next twenty. He does not seem to make those runs into the box that good strikers do,think Chopra and McCormack. I wonder if Harris might be better playing out wide and bringing Wilson in to play alongside Moore or Glatzel. Cant get too excited about a player none of us had heard of a couple of days ago. Right back still the priority for me.
