BLUEBIRDS LOOK AT 'EXCITING' PREMIER LEAGUE LOAN

Cardiff City target loan move for Leeds United striker
By Tom Coleman

Cardiff City are keen on taking highly-rated Leeds United striker Sam Greenwood on loan in January.

WalesOnline understands the Bluebirds are one of several Championship sides weighing up a potential move for the former Sunderland prospect, with Neil Harris looking to further bolster his forward options in light of several injury concerns.

Star striker Kieffer Moore is expected to be sidelined until at least the new year, while Harris had already admitted the long-term absence of Isaac Vassell and Lee Tomlin were likely to "affect the thinking of the football club come January".

Greenwood moved to Elland Road from Arsenal in the summer, and has emerged as one of the club's brightest young prospects, netting six goals in seven games for the under-23s.

As things stand, City are yet to firm up their interest, although they are understood to be well placed to make a move, with the Cardiff City Stadium seen as a potentially good fit.

Harris knows his hands are tied regarding permanent moves involving money and his best options are more loan players.

However, there is plenty of competition for his signature, with Bournemouth and Sheffield Wednesday among the many other names keen.

Another potential sticking point is that Marcelo Bielsa may well have his own plans for the 18-year old, who is already regularly training with the first team.

The teenager is believed to be highly rated by the Leeds boss, who is understood to have told the player that he's not far away from a first team breakthrough.

Speaking about the progress of players in the under-23s side, the Bielsa said recently: "We analyse every performance of the under-23s as if it were the first team and because normally we train with 22 players and when we are missing any of those 22 players then we substitute them with some of the under-23s.

"I think that around fifty per cent of the players in the under-23s can apply for a place on our team."

Strangely I cannot paste wallpaper either. My missus just did our feature wall ( whatever that is) in our bedroom.

I like salmon spread paste. Can do that. :occasion5: :bluescarf: :old: :bluebird: :D
